If so, do you know if they made any changes for the new year. I have been getting Birth Control for 5 years and it always cost me $15. Now all of a sudden it is costing me $80. I am being charged almost full price. I have to call them, but have been a bit busy, I was just wondering if anyone else experienced this problem with them.

No, actually I used to always spend $20 and now all the sudden it is $10. Obviously something is screwed up over there.

Each plan is different, yours may have changed from a full copay to only copay on generic or formularies. I used to pay $50 at my job and now pay $25 at DH's job.

Thats what I have too. I am a teacher. It was always $15, now all of a sudden its not being covered!!

OK, just found out there is a generic brand available now for my pill, so since my doctor wrote for me to get the Ortho and not generic, I am being charged almost the full price. Next time I get a refill I have to get the generic brand and I will only be charged the $5 for 3 months. So I am out over $100 til next time I refill. Can you return pills to the pharmacy?? I still have 2 packs left. I would rather return them and get the generic so I can get some of my money back. Can you return drugs??

I couldn't imagine not having health insurance! BP alone can kill your $$ situation!! Glad to see it worked out! Call the pharmacy and check to see if you can get something back! If you always fill there they should have asked about that!

yeah, a lot of people at work (we all have empire) had this happen a few months ago. they feel the generic is just fine though and like the price!

Hi...I work for Empire BCBS...Best chance to reach us by phone us is Wed-Fri, not mon-tue...long phone wait, you cannot return drugs unfortunatly...the reason the co -pay went up is because there was a NYS mandate passed saying that BC must be a covered service under insurance...at one time we had about 100,000 woman getting it, now we have ( from the mandate) 2 1/2 million people...so the drug companys see the demand and jack up their prices and because your premiums dont go up and we have over a million people more to pay the drugs on...the co-pays go up...To be honest , if you really feel its a problem you should write your state senate,
drug companies will continue to raise prices when there are demands like this untill you are paying hundreds of dollars in co-pays...things like Cholestrol med's used to cost so little, untill dr's started prescribing them A LOT MORE, so the drug comapnies almost tripled the prices of these meds...same thing happened when anti-depressants became more 'popular'.
Only complaining to the govn't about the lack of control over drug company pricing will ever solve this problem...
