does anyone have second thoughts...

about throwing a whole big wedding?

I am so scared right now w/ how the economy is going, they are going to start laying people off at my job soon, and i'm not sure if i'm one of them..

sometimes i'm scared that maybe we should have just booked a vegas wedding or something and saved a ton of money! Although every time i bring it up to FH he gets angry...

ugh sorry. just needed to vent. that, and i'm super bored too (its been SO SLOW here i feel like bashing my head against the keyboard lol)

I do feel that way sometimes but not because of money because of the stress.

i think that sometimes too...I just dont want to worry and stress over something that FH and i have no control over. This wedding is something I want and we will make it work no matter how things turn out in the economy or our personal financial life...

yes, i do. But if we were to do something else none of his family would go and he wouldn't be happy about it

i have second thoughts only b/c i imagined myself having a smaller wedding...and sometimes i think when the day comes i'll be so shy that i won't enjoy myself.

but when i looked into having a wedding in FH's parent's backyard (they have a beautiful home/yard) it was actually going to be MORE of a hassle!!

vegas is expensive too :) lol one bachelorette party there was enough to set me back for a few months........

but seriously. ......you can't control the economy.......jsut make sure that you make educated decisions when it comes to vendors and all things wedding related. also, maybe take things a little slower with the planning. it'll take the stress off and you'll have less deposits to worry about.

I agree plus me and FH plan to only get married once no matter if this one works out or not!

We've been super slow too which is scary. Swear I need to go into the medical field. People are always getting sick. I need job security.

Yeah, we are both nervous about planning the wedding, but we are moving forward and hoping for the best financially. I'm hoping my parents are able to put up their portion as well. Know my father lost a bit these past few days. I'm sure in a few months things will change for the best. Whomever is voted in will swoop in and save the day and the economy will go back on an upswing.

It'll be ok Jenny. If you gotta scale down, you gotta scale down. There are always things you can leave out or corners to cut that will still give you the wedding of your dreams. Keep your chin up girl.

Sometimes I do. But I LOVE my RH and I got such a great price, I dont think I'll find anything cheaper..at least not for what Im getting at JT.

I feel that way a lot because of the money factor.

No matter how I look at it I'm spending in the $22,000 to $25,000 bracket.

That would make a much nicer down payment towards a home... if we could get approved for a mortgage.

I agree.. Certain things you cant control so you just go with what you can

Re: does anyone have second thoughts...

I sometimes do as well, especially on the days when I really wish that FH and I could just live together already. However, I don't want to gypt myself out of this experience. I'm only doing this one time, so I want it done the way I've always envisioned it as long as I have the funds to do so. jenny, I agree with amanda. if you absolutely must scale down a bit, it will not take away from your big day. And trust your FH, he knows your situation more than any of us so even with these uncertain times, he knows that the two of you will be ok.

I keep wondering if its really worth it for one day, but we have both dreamed of having a big wedding since we were kids

I agree, im glad we at least went with thursday, skipped limos, and I am borrowing my dress.

Having a house is more important to me then having a huge wedding.

Re: does anyone have second thoughts...

I always second guess myself...so everyday I wonder if we are making the right decision. Our wedding is probably going to cost us a small fortune...and considering we are far from rich...I sometimes think we are insane. But it's the one day I have dreamed of all my life and I am not so willing to settle. And surprisingly FH isnt. My goal is to pay for everything cash...but if for some reason we cant...we'll just use the money we make from the money to cover the outstanding bills. We already have a house...so I'm not too worried about spending our gifts.

I'm just so thankful for this site...b/c there are so many things I didnt even think to budget for!!
