Does anyone have TMJ?

my future stepmother-in-law is suffering with this. i just printed out the post to give her some ideas to manage it. thanks ladies! and feel better

It's actually quite common - especially among women.

In truth, calling the condition TMJ is silly - TMJ stands for the (I'm gonna botch up the spelling!) Tempromandibular Joint. We all have them - so it should be more like Aggravated TMJ or something along those lines. (I think this issue was more of a pet peeve for my PT than anything else!)

I have it too. Sometimes when I close my mouth, my jaw zig zags. Literally. I can see it in a mirror. I always rub the jaw joints by the ears and also my temples. That really seems to help me with the locking or the snapping I used to get in the past. I also have a teeth guard. That helps too.
