Re: Does anyone have Vertigo?

I don't have it but my mom does. When it gets bad she can't do anything for days. Lifting her head from the pillow is a problem.

Good luck with it. I hope it stays mild.

Re: Does anyone have Vertigo?

I had it for three weeks this year , result of a bad sinus/ear infection. I was on a cruise ship when the sinus infection was bad and the doc said it made it 10 times worse. I was throwing up at work...couldn't walk straight and it left me just physically/mentally exhausted.

Honestly the only thing that helped in those weeks were valium...they prescribe it for vertigo a lot..it just calms the body down and didn't make me feel as horrible...but it did leave me tired.

Re: Does anyone have Vertigo?

That's what they say I have, but I am not so sure. I get dizzy from movement...I think it has more to do w/ my ears. They put me on Antivert anyway, which did nothing but put me out for a few hrs.

Re: Does anyone have Vertigo?

I had it recently for about a month. The doc couldn't tell me anything, but my aunt who's a NP said it was probably protein (or calcium or something) that gets loose in your ear canal and touches the sensors which causes the vertigo. She gave me these exercises to do and it would temporarily stop it.
(you sit on bed, lay down on one side quickly, sit up, lay down on the other side... just sway side to side like that for a little while)

Re: Does anyone have Vertigo?

I've had ear problems for years and the doctor says it's a condition that will not go away. I get sooo dizzy on the top of the stairs that I feel like I'm going to fall down. I also get scared on escalators. Weird...

Re: Does anyone have Vertigo?

It will come and go. Sometimes your recurrence will happen again quickly and otherwise you can go months or years without another attack. My last attack was on my wedding night. I have had little moments of dizziness since I have gotten PG but I have not had a vertigo attack since then.

Good luck with it. It is scary and annoying the beginning. But for me I learned what movements and things were triggers for me and I now avoid them.

I have the same thing. When we go to sporting events I get ill thinking of going up the stairs and once I'm up there I won't go down until the game is over or we are going home. And FH has to hold my hand the whole way down. I get really really dizzy. I have to hold on the railing with my other hand too, it's bad.
