Re: does anyone know
it's highly variable..... we are cursed with an electric waterheater.... so we pay about $120 a month so idiotic.... who ever heard of an electric water heater on LI?????
becuase we're over shops (and warmth drifts upwards) we pay almost nothing for heat.... but central air is necessary and costly in the summer..... the gas bill is only for cooking, so it's always under $30.....

our electric bill can be anywhere from 75-90 dollars a month. our gas bill is about 25 dollars. heat is supplied by the building.

my cousin and i lived in downtown manhattan for a while and had to pay for all utilities except water...it usually averaged about $20 a month...but we were really conscious of the electricity and heat we were using. we put all our lamps etc on power strips and turned off the power strips every morning before leaving for work..and i think we used the heat and a/c maybe four times in the year we were living there. plus, when we used the a/c or heat we'd keep it on until we were comfortable and then turned it off...

Depends on where you are talking about, city, long island, apartment building or apartment in a house.

it depends where you live and how you live. Some people keep lights on all the time and it's higher. Others don't. It varies.

Re: does anyone know
It completely depends.
We are in a small apartment and we both work in NYC five days a week. We're active and not home much on the weekends... So we don't use as much electricity as someone who is home more.
We don't pay for heat / hot water, so I cannot help you there.
Our electric bill is around $40 a month max. Our gas bill is never more than about $10 (cooking gas only). We expect the electric bill to go up about $20 a month in the summer when we use the AC more.
When we lived in a bigger apartment, we were paying more like $50-60 in electric, but the gas bill (again, cooking only) was about the same.

ohyeah i should add that FI works from home, so ours is on the high side. It probably would be cut in half if he worked outside the apartment.
