does anyone know about capping teeth?

does anyone know about capping teeth?

my dentist wants to do it, and i can even get the gap closed if i wanted to.. im wondering can you still bite down on food the same way? it wont break them will it?

i have both caps and dental implants and it does not affect my chewing, however they are not my front teeth. a friend of mine has caps on all of her front teeth and i know she eats normally!
