Does anyone know anything about chicken poxs, but the adult version

A guy i work with i found out this morning has chicken poxs but the adult version of it. So the entire office is lysoling everything. his office, our deks, anything this guy came into contact with. a few ppl shook his hand so they are all freaking out that if its contagious they are worried they'll get it.

Does anyone know anything about this?? is it very contagious?

Isnt It called shingles? I heard it was VERY catchy!!

I would go to Webmd.com and check out chicken pox and see if you can learn anything there..

Melissa - like Lisa said, if you had it as a child, don't worry so much. If you have never had them, it is very contagious and VERY debilitating in adults. Adults who come down with chicken pox can be laid up for weeks. It's much more serious in adults than children. If I were you I'd scrub my desk too and lysol everything as well. Wash the hell out of your hands and don't go near the guy's possessions.

I'm not trying to alarm you, but it is a very serious illness in adults. Again, if you already had it as a kid, don't worry.

I have definatly have had them. How could i ever forget. I was 10 and i had them in July. One kid gave it to the entire class.

I havent really had much contact with the guy, but the enire office is lysoling like crazy and scrubbing everything. his stuff, there own stuff, the office, everything. anything this guy got into contact with, we scrubbed.

I think i am i the safe zone, but it was scary to hear someone have this and even though i have had it as a child, you never know.

I am 25 and 2 years ago came down with the shingles.....LET ME TELL YOU....it was AWFUL!
So painful!!!! Anyway - my doc. told me to stay away from small children and anyone who has not had chicken pox!!! (that is who it is contagious to)

Well, that night I went home and told my roommate and his face turned pale....HE had never had the chicken pox!!!!! Well we were very careful not to get too close (infact I don't think he came near the couch in over a month) and not to eat out of the same containers blah blah blah.....
He never got it....

It is only contagious to small children, people who have not had it before and (my doc. told me this) to stay away from pregnant women.....
