DH and I are looking into various areas to possibly move to. Does anyone know anything about their schools and Oceanside.
Also, does anyone know how to research school distrcits.
Thanks.

You can research the schools on newsday.com
I live right near FS, and it is a beautiful neighborhood! A good friend just bought a house there, right on the border of Garden City. FH and I would definitely look there for our next house.

My hubby grew up there! It's a really nice community. In fact, the FS elementary schools just scored really high state wide (in the top 20)!

As far as I know Franklin Square schools are MUCH better then Oceanside. Franklin Square is a nice area, can have it's 'bad areas', but every town does. DH grew up there, went to the schools there and he turned out more than OK.

thank you all so much for your help.

The townhouse is right past the bridge near the Southern State, close to the hospital. Do you know if they have a train, I work in NYC. I appreciate your help, FS is one town I have no clue about.
Does anyone know what towns border Franklin Square?

I work at Franklin Hospital, which is actually considered Valley stream. West Hempstead and Malverne also border Franklin Square. i used to live right down the street from Ralphs for a few years. Didn't grow up in FS.
Is it the townhouses right next to the hospital?? Its a nice area around the hospital.
The trains aren't that close. Theres Stewart Manor, a small one Edgewood or something like that... and Malverne.

Yes, they are near the hospital. I haven't seen them yet, but my Agent told me where they are located.
Does anyone know if a non-resident will have easy access to the trains. I know I have to use either Valley Stream or Garden City. Malverne isn't that great since you have to change trains and they run less often.

Re: Does anyone know anything about Franklin Square?
I grew up there. There are townhouses across from the Hospital (basically valley stream) and further north on franklin ave. (franklin square). I've been in the ones that are further north and they are very nice. Check what school district the townhouse is in. I believe that Fr Sq schools have better ratings that Valley Stream.

Re: Does anyone know anything about Franklin Square?
Lived in FS almost my whole life. My mom still is there, on Dogwood Ave. The bordering towns are West Hempstead, Valley Stream, Malverne and Garden City South.
It is really developing right now, like a previous poster said. People are dormering and re-building like crazy. Houses are selling from 300-500k... for RANCHES!
There are 2 diff. school districts. The FS school district (I think 17) and the Valley Stream SD (13).
I went to Willow Rd. and VSN, the Condo's you are talking about would go to the same schools as me. 11 years ago they were good, but I think now that District 17 is better. Not to say that the others are bad, not by any means.
As far as trains, you could go out of VS, Lynbrook, Malverne, Garden City, Stewart Manor... for those condos... VS would be the closest. That is also a frequent line.
