Does anyone know anything about hair straightening?***UPDATE*****

I have been pricing around for to get my hair straighten. I have called

Lemon Tree (which the owner would be doing it) Chemical straightening is $85

Studio 24 in Sayville Japanese is $250 and for the Brazilian straightening is $250

Every where else I call cost higher close to $600 and higher.

What is the difference between Japanese straightening and chemical straightening? I am so confused any help would be great or if you know a good place to go that would do it for a good price. Thank you

*****UPDATE**********
I got the chemical straightening done and it took but there are a few pieces that are still wavy can I go to have the Japanese straightening done or do I have to wait now a little while? I am sorry I didn't listen about doing the Japanese straightening instead of the chemical straightening the stylist said this would be better for my hair and he said my hair would be healthier. Now what do I do? I feel like an idiot cause I went in wanted the Japanese and he said your hair is a little wavy and you just need the chemical straightening you do not need the Japanese straightening. So I listened and thought OK it would be better for my hair and it wasn't. I am sorry girls for not listening to you's.

I got a Japanese straightening done about 3 months ago & I regret it completely. One my friends also got it done & she feels the same way I do. It could just be where we got it done but I don't believe it is worth $450. I still have to blow dry my hair & my hair breaks so easily now nothing really changed except for my hair being damaged.

Really? Do you know anything about chemical straightening by ISO? Does chemical straightening work just as well as Japenese straightening? Will my hair be pin straight? I want my hair straight and easier to do in the morning.

Re: Does anyone know anything about hair straightening?

My mom is a hair dresser and does alot of this for a living. I have really curly hair and she used it all on me. The only one that leaves it soft and prevents my hair from becoming brittle is the Paul Mitchell relaxer. If you go to any salon they should have his products and you can request for them to not leave it on too long.

I have seen horror from those other 3month relaxers they break, dry, discolor your hair.

I hope this helps. FM if you need more information.

Re: Does anyone know anything about hair straightening?

I can definitely recommend Hayato NY. They are located on East 23rd St in Manhattan -212-673-7373. I have had my japanese strightening done there since 2002. They are affordable (last time I went they charged $210) and very professional. I recommended them to a few people and never got any negative feedback.

If you are a new client, they will not even make the straightening appointment until you make a consult. During the consult, they check your hair to make sure they can do the straightening without any problems. If your hair is too damaged, or if you have to many highlights, etc., they will advise you on what needs to be done before straightening. You shouldn't do it if you have 50% or more of your hair is highlighted.

As far as results, they leave my hair pin straight every single time I have it done. I don't need to blowdry it at all. Only after 4 months, when the roots start growing in, do I need to just dry the roots- takes about 10 minutes. Also my hair is damaged now, but only because I started highlighting it last year- really dumb!! But before I started changing the color, it was very healthy.

HTH!

Re: Does anyone know anything about hair straightening?

you should get something called magic straight
i think its inbetween those two.. chemical will relaly damage your hair and Japanese straight it way to expensive..

how long is your hair and do you have alot??

I believe if you go to a korean salon it will be cheaper if your hair is short then 100-150 and if its really long 250+

where do you live btw?

I used get my Japanese Straightened.. currently I am growing it out because its been years and I want to see my curls now. However, I wish I wasnt growing it out. JS was amazing! My hair was not damaged at all, looked sleek and smooth all the time, and I could hot roller it if needed. I went to Hair Village in Woodside they charge approx 200. I recommend this place to everyone. Its always packed but they do great work and the results were always fantastic. Wash and go. Such a time saver!!

yes, i would not recommend going to a non-asian place to have your hair straightened - especially if you have fine or damaged hair. the chemicals they put in your hair are pretty potent and my from experience the asian places i have gone to in NYC check your hair's condition first. i have done the korean magic straight perm. it was great....

Re: Does anyone know anything about hair straightening?

I have gotten the Japanese straightening for about 3 or 4 years now and I could not imagine my life without it.

My hair has never been healthier. It all depends on where you get it done, what products they use, who does your hair and how they do it. They need to know what they are doing.

The place I go to they are all Japanese.

I got the Japanese straightening done and LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!! Only paid $250 and had it done by a place that specializes in primarily just that. They have only 2 locations... NY & JAPAN... they know what they are doing! They had told me it it might dry my ends a little but it did not at all.. complete opposite of damage for me.. my hair is completely shiny, pin straight and soft.. Started doing it 2½ years ago, touch up roots every 8 months. Still love it. 2 of my friends also go to my place for same length of time and have the same great things to say.

ETA: I would wait though since you've already used chemicals.. don't want to fry it. FM me if you want info on my salon to save for when your hair is ready..

I would wait a little bit because you can do serious damage to your hair if you do it back to back.
