Does anyone know how to clean a down comforter?

if puppy peed on it, just dry cleaning alone wil not get the smell out.
Kitty peep on ours, and it is not a down comforter, but it was dry clean only. The smell did not come out, so they had to wash it, and it came out GREAT.
Ask your dry cleaners.

Ugh...I had a down comforter that needed to be washed, so, like I have done many times before, I took it to the laundromat. I have done it before with this comforter, and others that I have had with absolutely no problem. Anyway, to make a long story short, make sure if you wash it that the dryer isn't too hot, and that the feathers are moving, not just sitting in a clump at the bottom of the dryer. I guess the one that I was using was too hot, and it totally burned my comforter. It smelled like a mix between burnt cloth, like when you scorch something with an iron, and burnt chicken. It was SO disgusting I had to throw it out. I was so annoyed, but I also felt like a complete moron, since the tag said dry clean only, and I knew that, but nobody believes me that I have washed it before without a problem.

Could you maybe hand wash the area that the dog peed on, and let it air dry? Then bring it in for dry cleaning? I think that's what I would do, but as you can see, I'm no expert.

thanks for the tips, girls. i haven't assessed the pee damage yet, but maybe it will be small enough to hand wash and then bring to the dry cleaners.
