I was thinking of making my own table runners but I've never sewed (sewn?) before but I can't imagine it being too difficult, I was thinking of buying a sewing machine. Is this really as easy as I'm making it out to be?

My mom showed me how to sew a couple of times . Its not that difficult but you have to know how to make the thread stay in place without unraveling your work, hahahaah that was my prob

if i had a sewing machine i wouldve been able to do it lol, why i thought i can do it by hand i have no idea. I did cut them but then they needed the edges fixed and all that, i bought it to a seamstress

Re: does anyone know how to sew?
I can sew on a sewing machine thanks to my aunt and grandma. the hardest part to me was threading the bobbin/needle; after that it's pretty easy. I wish I did it more often but I don't have my own sewing machine

lol is it bad that I don't know what threading the bobbin/needle means?

not bad - they were seamstresses that's the only reason i know! the bobbin is the spool of thread you put underneath the machine needle to loop it down into... it sounds complicated (it was for me) but once you get it sewing on the machine is great and doesn't take long... I wouldn't sew table runners by hand. you would want even stitching and that's harder to do by hand (and takes forever). maybe you can borrow someone's machine and try it first?

I Went to the fashion district in manhattan, theres a whole block with just fabric stores. To get it sewn was about $140

i do not like threading either...i still make my mom do that part for me cuz her machine is really old (i think the newer ones have most user friendly features)

If you have a machine, sewing a table runner shouldn't be that bad, but then again, it depends on how complicated you are looking to do the ends.

Re: does anyone know how to sew?
if you know someone that can teach you or if you are already handy on a sewing machine it shouldnt be too hard. Ive made tons of things like curtains and pillows - they are fairly easy.
