Does anyone know if kids are still allowed to sell door to door?
Like to raise money for schools? I know my school tells us that under NO circumstances are children to sell anything door to door, only for their families and for parents to take to work and some schools have websites where you make purchases for a school in the name of a specific child. A little girl just came to our to door selling stuff and I swear this was not allowed anymore. Just curious. Of course I bought something because I felt bad, but I was very concerned for her safety, she was about 9 with no parents and when I asked where they were she just waved off in the distance.

Big no no in our school too! The 2 fund raisers that we have basically fall on the parents taking it to work and calling up the friends and family stuff.

Ok, I kind of knew the answer was no, well, I did know the answer was no, I just wanted to make sure I didn't make that up in my head. I asked her where her parents were and she just kind of waved over in another direction. I'm pretty sure there are no kids who live in our complex, it's mostly older people. She was probably someone's grandchild, but still, I did not see anyone.

Her parents probably told her to do that so it made it seem like someone was there, very dumb.
It is sad in this day and age that kids can no longer be kids and kids can no longer be safe

Does anyone remember this story?
Trenton, New Jersey N.J. Court Affirms Ruling to Reduce Child-Killer's Parole Eligibility -- (Fox) A notorious teenage sex-killer, convicted of the 1997 rape and murder of an 11-year-old boy, will become eligible for parole in 26 years when he is 45 years old, the New Jersey Supreme Court ruled Wednesday. Sam Manzie was 15 in 1997 when he abducted, molested and killed Eddie Werner as the boy went door to door in Jackson Township selling candy to raise funds for the PTA. Entire Story
This was my grandmother's friend's gransdson. Knowing this story, I scares me so much knwoing I have to be teh one to make teh choice when to let my children go out alone...

I do remember that story, again so sad. Sad that our society has come to that. I remember being able to go for walks when it was dark out and feeling completely safe in my area or neighborhood- truly sad. I feel bad that our children will never have the feeling of security that I did growing up

I often think about how sad it is that it's not the same world as the one we grew up in. But I can't help but also wonder what was it that changed to make it this way? Were these killers and child molesters always out there, we just didn't hear about it? I don't know. I ALWAYS wonder about this.

They are allowed but they need to have a parent with them. My daughter was always getting things from school and Daisy's last year and they didn't say you couldn't but they did not recommend that they sell door-to-door by themselves. She will be selling candy for Cheerleading and I will just take a box to work and my husband will take her to houses around us to sell the rest. It's so sad that the kids of today will never experience what we did and how much fun it was!
