Does anyone know of an affordable reception site in Manhattan??
Hi Everyone - I think this question is an oxymoron affordable in Manhattan??? Well, I am still trying to be optimistic. Does anyone know of a cool place in Manhattan for under $100/pp that can accommodate a group of around 125 + a sufficient dancing space?? I know under $100/pp is tight for NYC, but I am looking to book a date for this summer so I'm hoping that if places aren't booked already, they might be willing to cut us a deal since it's short notice and they might want to just book the space. We're open to other ideas besides the formal sit down dinner. We would consider a cool buffet/cocktail party at a loft, whatever. Just want something affordable and classy in NYC. Thanks!! $100 pp in Manhattan will be tough. The cheapest place I saw in Manhattan was $150 pp.
You can easily do $100pp outside of Manhattan.

I know my friend did it for under $100/pp at the Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers, but this was for a Friday night wedding and it was two years ago.

it's doable. 3 West is 95/pp on low season, which is Jan, Feb or August for a Sat evening. that includes open bar. if you add a bunch more entree options it goes up but not by much more... we're paying around 100/pp which was a steal for what we're getting.
it really depends on how many people you are having and when you are willing to do it and how willing you are to deviate from the norm. 3 west is a very traditional ballroom space but others below are more contemporary
other places: landmark mansion amuse (the restaurant, but they have private rooms that make it look like you are having your event in someones townhouse apt) algier house moran's

We just had our office party at Penthouse 15 and it was a pretty cool set up- you might check that one out.
