*drool* I have heard nothing but good things about those places! They double my price range though! Good Luck! Why don't you make a post telling everyone about yourself and FH and how you met and got engaged, etc! Gossip Gossip! We gotta have details!

Re: Does anyone know these places?

thanks 2untamed. Do you think that a wedding for 150-200 ppl would be too small for oheka? Are the guests allowed to walk around the castle or do they have to stay in one room? Did you or your guests stay there overnight? Do they have valet parking?

There is valet parking at oheka. 150 people is definitely not to small. You will just pay a larger per person charge. Guests can stay overnight for $300. You can wander around the castle as much as you want. Its yours for the night b/c you paid a site fee.

The mansions/castles/property type places have site fees. The others don't.

Re: Does anyone know these places?

I only had 125 people at my wedding, I choose not to include children. It is incrediable...

Easy questions first.........
As your guest drive up, they are greeted by valet guys, and they walk down a red carpet over cobble stones into the main entrance.... There is coat check to the left.... they then go up a marble and iron banister stair case up to the casltes main floor. As the ushers open the door for the guests, a waitress hands each person a champaine glass with a strawberry. The next waitress asks for the guests names and hands them their place card (no self service here).

They are then guided to the open bar area where they wait for the ceremony to begin. If it is held outside they will be escorted out, or if inside, to the appropriate room.

They have just completed a new room which holds up to three-fifty hundred people.
I choose to have my coctail hour, the reception and dessert, in three different rooms. Yes the guest get to walk around the castle (the main floor) and all the grounds outside.

I did not have guests stay, because they all lived on Long Island. But they will give your guests a discounted price ($300-$350) for regular rooms and $650 for Suites.
However, you and your FH get to stay overnight, it is included in the price.

You as the bride get a personal Matrion for the day. They also give your bridal party breakfast and lunch the day of the wedding. The castle is yours from 9:00am till the end of your reception. Two hours before your ceremony, they have security and they will not allow anyone who is not part of your wedding to enter the castle............ But, it is on the price side

WOW that sounds awesome. just what i am looking for (still have to convince fiance about castle or mansion wedding though) he getting ready to start studying for the bar so he'll probably be easy going. someone else told me it was expensive, but im a daddy's girl so I think we can swing it. as long as there minimum count isnt too much over 200 for a sat - i dont think i want kids there either? Guess i will call this week

Hi. My FH and I are getting married at the Bourne Mansion this Oct. It is smaller then Oheka so it might be better if you are worried the size. Like Oheka you and your guests get to use the mansion for the entire day and they get to go into different rooms. They have valet too. You can get married outside if you want, but we are getting married inside. You get a day of coordinator and bridal suite, but unlike Oheka there is no hotel rooms.
I had a really hard time deciding between bourne mansion and Oheka myself.

Re: Does anyone know these places?

These are the site fees:
Friday $8,000
Saturday $10,000
Sunday $9,000

A suggestion, don't tell FH about site fee until you go and take a tour, it makes it more easier to understand why it is so expensive.
To see picture and the website, is not at all the same as going in person and seeing the tapastries and antique furnishing. Once inside you feel as tho you are in England in the time of Camelot

Re: Does anyone know these places?

thanks for the info MegLehner - you might be right about the size. Both ballrooms look very nice. I really want to see both of these places now.
Does anyone know anything about the vanderbuilt?

Re: Does anyone know these places?

As far as I know, Oheka is well over $200pp for a Saturday night in the fall. If you love it, you may want to change the season to lower the price a bit. Glen Island and Whitby Castle are going to run you around $200 each. If you're looking in Westchester I would also suggest checking out Tappan Hill if you like the mansion feel, they're $235pp I believe. I think the Fountainhead is a little less expensive than the other Westchester ones, but it also has less grounds.

Re: Does anyone know these places?

i checked out fountainhead and glen island harbour club.

fountainhead quoted me at 170 (with tax and a venetian hr, for a sat nite may wedding

and glen island quoted me at 205(with tax and venetian hour..sat nite in may)

fountainhead was ok...the room itself was very nice...
but i didnt like the banquet manager.

glen island is just a rip off but beautiful

Re: Does anyone know these places?

I did a search on some of the places listed above and I heard that coindre hall looks runned down (is this true). I made an appointment to see both cause the guy on the phone said he showed both, but i dont want to waste my time. It looks nice in the pic though.
So far I got an appointment w/ Bourne, Coindre hall & Oheka.
Do you think people will think it is wierd that I am having a wedding in Westchester even though I live in Suffolk? (if I decide to go with one of those places). Most of my fiances family will be coming from greece (i havent even meet his parents yet).

Re: Does anyone know these places?

I don't think it's too weird to get married in Westchester. We live in White Plains and we're getting married in Nassau. I think you should look around and keep your options open and choose the place that's right for you. We went as far north as New Paltz and as far out as Ronkonkamo. I probably would have gone even further, but I loved The Crescent and didn't need to look anymore.

Re: Does anyone know these places?

I don't think it's run down, it's just very old, but Coindre is a little weird with the set up, I didn't dig it compared to the Bourne, I looked at both as well. It's better for a cocktail party or something... I also liked the idea of Coindre and Bourne b/c not a lot of people have heard/been to either of them...At least none of my friends has...

Re: Does anyone know these places?

FYI - i just found out that the Bourne does not have outside ceremonies so if you have your heart set on that dont look there. I think you have have some of your CH on the back porch if it is nice though.

That is true, oddly enough no outdoor ceremonies... they set up the back really nice for CH though... I am doing combo indoor/out, if the weather permits of course : )
