Does anyone know what could this be?

So It's the weirdest thing. The skin in my thumb next to the nail is peeling and it itches.
When the skin comes off, it feels really soft and it sometimes bleeds.
What the hell it's going on?
Now the same thing is happening on another finger.

This is really embarrasing.

I don't know what it is sweetie, but maybe you could call a dermatologist and see if they can offer up some suggestions?

sure it's not just dry skin?

The temperature changes are really doing a number on my hands.

I don't think so Nic, the skin peels off and it itches badly and it's sometimes painful.

sounds a bit like eczema. (sp?) i have it and it sometimes is like that. its a type of allergy/stress thing. id have it checked out though anyway. feel better!

It takes a long time for my skin to adjust to the new season - sometimes they peel to the point where they bleed, and I have bandaids on every finger.

An MD told me to try Eucerin - a REALLY heavy, oily, moisturizer. It seems to be going OK.

you can buy it in the drugstore - actually, the last time I bought it, I got it at Walmart. It comes in a tub, not a squeezy tube, and it's not cheap.

The tub is about $14-15 in Walmart, but it works.

i have eucerin in the bottle...comes out like lotion...never seen it in a tub..is it more concentrated in the tub form?

yea it may be eczema... i used to have it and still comes back every now and then...aquaphor is really good too! it's got kind of a greasy feel but is works amazing!

yes - it's yellowish in color, and has a heavier-than-vaseline consistency.

aquaphor is made by Eucerin!!! Get either Tania, they're both good.
