I sent you an FM. I don't work in a Catholic school, but I work in a private school and know a little about Catholic school salary.

Starting salary in the city is about $31,000 if you have a bach degree and NYS certification. If you have a masters it more. Long Island is less, but not sure exactly how much. I've heard around $26 - 27,000.

a friend of mine is in his 2nd year at a small Christian school and makes mid twenties....plus he gets all the extras dumped on him, like coaching every sport team they have because he's the only male teacher!!!

I also think it depends on the school, I am not sure if they all pay the same. -Kelly

Some Catholic schools on the island start at as low as 18,000 a year.

Catholic Schools in Manhattan, start in the very low 30s. Of course, if you have a Master's Degree and experience the salary goes up. However, the salary scale is very small. After teaching for 9 years with a Masters Degree, I only make 39,000.

Good point! I taught private catholic in manhattan for 2 years. It was TOUGH!! I taught 5-8 science, 7th and 9 math.... EVERYDAY!!! On top of that, we only got 1 prep a week, and 1/2 hour lunch each day. There were also no subs, so if someone was out we had to use our prep to cover... Not to make it like a resume, each school is different, but I can add like 10 other responsibilites that I had on top of that.. The salary is very low and your doing and incredible amount of work.
