Does anyone know when is a good time to go to Italy
My Fh and I want to go to Rome for our honeymoon. Our wedding is in October but I'll be in school still. So we were thinking going summer or winter break. Which would be better. How is Italy's climit? I've never been there.

I would go over winter break, even though it will be cold. the climate is roughly similar to what it is here- colder in the north and warmer in the south- Rome is about the same as NY. BUT it is so much cheaper and there aren't as many tourists- both BIG pluses in my book.

. why wouldn't you be able to site see? the ruins are all over the place...you will be physically in them...
unless you have an extreme aversion to the cold, you should be fine.

Sicily is hot. Can you go during spring break? It shouldn't be too hot then....it's very touristy then though. If you don't mind fighting the crowds this could be a good time to go.

I just don't want it to be ice cold. Or to worry about snow. Maybe I'll go in march before spring break. Ill have to take some time off school but that shouldn't be too bad.

I think in winter Italy is more prone to flooding. Shorty McBride told me about it, since she went there recently. I think she would know the most about it. We're going in June. Probably Rome, Venice and Florence.
ETA: OOPS, nevermind! That is Venice specifically that seems to flood. But check this out if you're curious:

We went to Italy a few summer ago...last week in July..Venice, Florence and Sienna....and it was HOT!!!! (90-100) and I will warn you there is no AC anywhere...maybe at the fancier hotels, but not in the trains or buses or restaurants or some of the musiems. you do a lot of walking and outdoor activities so if you dont like the heat I would suggest going another time of year.

My parents went to Italy at the end of June to the beginning of July and they said it was hot as hell! I went in January and it was cold. I wore my winter coat most of the time. So Spring time sounds good.

We are getting married in november but we are planning our honeymoon to Italy for April to coincide with the school break. Spring in Italy is supposed to be beautiful & not too hot. We are planning on hitting Rome, Venice & Florence. Hope this helps!
