Toys for kids?? I collect a lot of toys but there are some I no longer want (hey, I went through phases) and they are all brand-new never opened. I don't really have room to store them until Toys For Tots starts up at Christmas. Any ideas?

It's in Queens but on the border of Nassau....St. Mary's Hosptial for Children in Bayside. I used to work there and it is an outstanding hosptial. They are subacute care so the children are in for longer hospital stays. They have a nursery, toddler wing, brain injury wing, children's wing, and hospice care. I believe the website is www.stmaryskids.org. It is so nice of you to donate!

Re: does anyone know where I can donate...
if you find out let me know please because i have a TON of stuffed animals and i wanted to give them to a children's hospital, but my mom seemed to think that they don't take them anymore unless they are brand new because I guess people were bringing in junk and maybe some 'germ-infested' toys. i was so sad-i want to make kids happy! I took good care of my animals! LOL

Ronald McDonald House should take them, or the Little Flower Children's home in Wading River. HOwever, LFCH is not very friendly from my experience with them.

i think usually they don't accept stuffed animals because dust or other things may absorb in the animals - at least thats what they told us once!
