Looking to maybe move out of state after our lease is up in a year from now, either there or Arizona, but I doubt that too far

TIA

I have family in Florida...

Areas that I've been in that are nice are:
Tampa
and suburbs like New Port Richey

Clearwater and suburbs like Dunedin

Those are on the West/Gulf Coast

On the Atlantic Coast-
Cocoa Beach
Vero Beach
New Smyrna Beach

In the middle Orlando has a really young, cool community and lots of industry

We were considering moving to Tampa.

We have family in Kernersville, NC ...it's a fast growing town with a lot of new developments. But right now it looks like Pleasantville.

I currently live in fl so I might be able to help. Are you thinking east coast or west coast? North Fl, Central FL or south FL?

I love the Gulf Coast of FL. My parents have a home in Sarasota and it's a nice, busy town with some commerce and great beaches! It's approx. 1 hour south of Tampa. Also, it's an area that they tend to evacuate to, rather than from, if you're concerned about storms...

Jamestown, NC is beautiful & compromised of mostly NY & NJ former residents...All the families there are young, late 20's-early 40's so there are tons of children

DH and I love Boca, however I am having second thoughts about the east coast since the last hurricane season.

We are stuck on Tampa and north tampa. I lived there 11 years, and we were never in an extreme hurricane.

Land O Lakes
Lutz
Wesley Chapel

We live in Navarre Beach It is between Pensacola and Ft. Walton Beach. It takes me 30 minutes to get to Destin.

Living in Navarre is like being on vacation year-round. When much of the country is experiencing cold and snowy weather, the water here is a beautiful emerald green, the beach is warm, and the sand is white. Seeing a glorious sunset over the Gulf, watching a heron wade through the marsh grass, feeling the water lap at your feet while you walk along the beach, feeding the ducks and seagulls at Navarre Park, enjoying the dolphins as they play in the water...not a week goes by that you can't experience one or all of these treasures!

Our residents enjoy the best that Northwest Florida has to offer. Navarre offers both new and existing homes in a variety of neighborhoods — gated communities, wooded areas, on the beach, sound side, bay side, or within any number of new and established subdivisions. Prices of homes fit virtually every budget, from below $100,000 to Gulf-front properties at $1.5 million. Whether your taste is cottage or contemporary, condos or single-family homes, Navarre has an affordable home for you.

Builders in the community range from locally owned custom builders, to nationally known community developers. With more than 40 builders and 150 realtors who know and serve the Navarre Beach Area, relocating is easy.

Education: The Navarre area has three elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school. The Santa Rosa County School District serves nearly 25,000 students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. Across the county, there are 16 elementary schools, seven middle schools, six high schools and three specialty schools.

In 2003, 22 of the district's 25 schools - the second-highest percentage of top-scoring schools in the state - earned an A school grade. Also, 90 percent of the fourth and fifth grades passed reading on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test, with the majority scoring at or above grade level. The district's 7th and 8th graders led the state in math and reading. For more information about the district, such as standards, schedules or locations, to go www.santarosa.k12.fl.us.

Higher education is also easily accessible just a short drive from Navarre. The University of West Florida and Pensacola Junior College (PJC) are both located in Pensacola and PJC also has evening classes at Navarre High School. Toward the east in Okaloosa County, classes are available through Troy State University and Okaloosa-Walton Community College. OWCC began an official process to become a 4-year college in December 2002. A name change (From Okaloosa-Walton Community College (as community college refers to a two-year degree granting institution) to Okaloosa-Walton College is now pending in the Florida Legislature and O-W officials anticipate switching to the new name on July 1.)he market here is booming

Our builder was Dolphin Custom Homes

My dh and I considering moving to Florida (really we would move tomorrow but I don't want to leave my family ) You have to be carefull and do lots of research on school districts (if this is an issue for you of course) My SIL just moved to Boynton Beach wich is in South Florida. It is between West Palm Beach and Boca Raton. South Florida is just as expensive to buy a house then it is here though. Her house was 349,000.00 4 bedrooms 2 baths inground heated pool with hot tub.

We know people who live in Jupiter right by Juno Beach (West Palm Beacn area) and they love it. Watch out for parts of Orlando---it can be scary--not Disney of course :)

Also, Charlotte, NC is supossedly full of transplanted new yorkers--now if that's what you're looking to get away from then you might not want to go there! LOL Down there, you'll always be a yankee---gotta be careful--some of those town/states are still fighting the civil war!
