Does anyone know why you get tired after lunch?

Does anyone know why you get tired after lunch?

I've been having pretty sh*tty sleep the past couple nights. But even despite that, usually on any other day, after eating lunch I feel as if I could curl up under my desk and take a nap. I seriously could!

This day is dragging too.

Probably a combination of two things:

1. When your body is digesting a large meal (especially one with a lot of sugars, carbs, etc.) it gets tired from all that work.

2. Our natural circadian rhythms are set to take a nap in the afternoon, even when we're adults!

well, when your tummy is full your are content and at peace you get sleepy ... it could also be the hotness that is outside! This humidity can make anyone tired

Yourbody gets tired while digesting, and since usually lunch is a 'quick' eat, it has to work harder.

iTS USUALLY BASED ON WHAT TYP EOF FOODS YOU ARE EATING AT LUNCH. IF THEY CONTAIN LOTS OF SUGAR & CARBS THAT MAY BE THE REASON.

Me too! We were actually just talking at lunch about trying to get our boss to invest in a bean bag chair so we can all take naps.

I was just about to say that! It's like Thanksgiving. Everyone is always tired from eating all that food!

Yes exactly! I learn all these great things in school. Including the fact that there is no where near enough tryptophan in turkey to actually make you drowsy after eating it. I'm such a nerd.

ETA: Oops, plus the wrong smiley!
