We hate it! Its so commercial and we figure if there is only one day that we should show each other our love...its stupid!
Usually we order in pizza which is nothing new for us and just relax! I was wondering if anyone else does not celebrate?

we dont do anything HUGE.. one year frank bought me earings but after that its a pretty low key holiday for us.
I usually buy him chocolate (that I eat ) and a card.. and hell get me like a dvd and well just sit home and watch a movie and get take out..
I am working the entire month of februaary with no day off so i wont be looking foward to doing much.. plus we are moving too..

we call it 'black Day' it is a thing from way back when everyone in our group of friends were all single & depressed I guess it kinda stuck... but I do get one single black rose every year... they are my favourite

I don't. I've hated V-day ever since my college bf completely forgot about it -- a situation made even worse when a friend of mine taunted him about it mercilessly, which then made him mad at me, blah blah blah. Needless to say, that bf is LONG out of the picture! But I still don't like V-day! Neither does FH.
Though, any excuse to get PRESENTS is nice!!!

We use to celebrate it but we decided last year that it is very commercial and that our anniversary is more important. So going forward we're not really doing anything big for it.

We get each other cards and I usually make a nice dessert and we throw some steaks on the grill. We won't do dinner on the 14th because its so over priced, we feel rushed because of reservations, etc. This year we'll be away for the weekend visiting my sister up at school in Boston. how romantic!

It's really funny, but we've been together for 11 years, and there was always something going on that we weren't together for Valentines Day. We'd both be away at school, one of us would be away on vacation, working etc. This year I have to take a test all day and he's working that night (he's a fireman.) So it is like a long running joke that something always screws up Valentine's Day for us! It's funny though, it doesn't bother me. If we were able to spend this Vday together we'd probably just cook dinner and stay in. oh, but we always buy each other cards and little gifts.

We dont make a big thing out of it either! My FH got teased by friends because on Vday he got me sneakers (at my request).
we buy each other something practical, usually a non surprise but nothing major! Usually we try to go out to dinner but it always gets messed up somehow!

We don't hate it, but we don't acknowledge it eather. Of cource, DH buys me a small box of Godiva truffles, in a regular, NON valentine, NON heart-shaped box! Just because the holiday is stupid doesn't mean I should pass on the chocolate!
But I alway feel that the fact that EVERYONE else is going out and having a romantic meal, makes it less special! It's not our special day, IT's EVERYONE'S special day!
Besides, why go out on that day and spend an exuberant amount on a mediocre meal, when you can go out any other day and for the same money get a great meal in a really nice restaurant! Valentine's Day is just a big rip off day for the restaurants!

Black Day started for me in College. I HATE that Men feel forced to show affection on that day.. I mean shouldn't I feel extra loved all year long why just one day a year is it special for me. I know lately (for money) society has pushed for men to get gifts too.. but the whole point is.. it's to make money. Sad.

It makes me crazy because my dh used to think he had to send me flowers at work because thats what he should do. I used to yell at him not to..you can buy the same rose the day after, not dead, for more than half the price! Its so silly!
