Does anyone on here cloth diaper or looking into cloth diapering?

I'm not looking for a debate on the merits/drawbacks of cloth vs. disposable. DH and I have heard them all and we've decided that we want to try cloth.

I'm interested in hearing which cloth diapers and covers you used on a newborn, and then what you used as your child got older. I've done quite a bit of research, and know what I'm leaning towards, but want to hear what other people thought.

TIA.

I'm an old fashioned mom. I used cloth diapers on both my children and I recommend it.

Now I'm going back 29 years ago so bear with me. I remember using a diaper service out of Patchogue. At the moment the name escapes me. It was so convient. They would give you a diaper pail (not fancy then) and you would put all the diapers in it. On a certain day, you would put the soiled diapers out, they would pick them up and leave you a clean new bag. I could remember how wonderful they smelt and how soft when I would take them out and restack them in my changing station. I used pre-fold and as she (then he) got older, the diapers got larger. I only used pampers (the only ones then) when we would go out. And depending on where we went, would use the cloth.

The most postive aspect of cloth is my babies never had a diaper rash. Stuck them with the pins now and then but nothing earth shattering.

I loved being a mom then (and now) and would do it all over again. I guess it was the way I was taught by my mom. I sterlized bottles, heated the bottle in a pot of boiling water, did cloth diapers, made my own food.

A word of advice: do use short cuts. Babies grow so fast. You want to enjoy them all the way around. I would give anything to do it again. And I'm praying that when the day comes when I have grandchildren, I can pass on my experiences and joys to my children.

Theres nothing like motherhood.

I'm not a mom, but my mom used cloth diapers on me and my brother...she said the same wonderful things that MomNeedsTissues did. SHe claimed that we never got diaper rash and that it was so much cheaper for her and my father. She tells me that I should do it too.

Good luck on your decision. Congrats!

sorry, not a mom either, but I love the idea of cloth diapers. my mom used them on me and totally saved. I want to be a SAHM, and any little bit is going to help me. My 2 siblings are very much into green peace and they totally sold me on the idea. My aunt used cloth diapers, I know she always used the wool diaper cover and never had any leaks in the crib
