I'm thinking about quitting the gym and just getting a treadmill since thats all I really do anyway. Does anyone have an recommendations or suggestions?

I bought a ProForm treadmill a couple of years ago that I only started using 6 months ago ( I know, my bad). I was in the same situation you are - I had a gym membership and only used the treadmill so I bought my own. I love it! I got it wholesale for about $650 from Iconfitness.com In fact, I've been running on it a lot recently and lost about 10 lbs. so far in the last month or so. I love to run, so I use it all the time. I think it's a worthwhile investment if you think you'll use it a lot.

I have a nordic trak...i love it and use that and my elliptical machine 4-5 days a week.

I bought a True Treadmill from Gym Source, it was around $2800, and it's so worth it because I run A LOT, and I've had knee problems for quite some time.
I've researched treadmills for a long time, and I have family that in the fitness industry, selling to Gold's Gym, and Bally's...all their equiptment.
Just be careful re' the quality of the treadmill you buy. The ones in the gym are NO Where Near the quality of the at home treadmills, unless you invest big $.

Thanks guys this has been really helpful! I found that the treadmills in Sears are the same price as the ones online. Go figure.
Kathy, thanks for your advice, it brought up a lot of interesting points. I was wondering about the quality as well. Hmmmmm should I stay with the gym or quit? I really have to think this through now.
I guess it might be worth giving up quality for convience and cost. Although, if I'm paying so much a month for the gym and put that towards my own treadmill, I would have the expensive treadmill I can find!

I have an elliptical (dad bought it for my brithday) and love it. I study on it, jump on if I don't feel like going to the gym, and read bridal mags on it, and watch tv on it. I love it!!! You should get a machine for your plac. It is sooo worth it! Not to mention Fh who thinks I look cute in the spandex while working out!

BEWARE OF SPORTS AUTHORITY ONLINE....let me make a long story short: ordered a treadmill on 12/13.....arrived (suppose to be 7 day delivery) 1/18 BROKEN asked for it to be picked up and a replacement delivered.....picked up 2/10! Meanwhile I was so mad that I cancelled the replacement THEY DELIVERED IT ANYWAY!! I was SOOO mad....I had the broken one taken up my entire hallway for a month and then they send me another one?!?!? I REFUSED to take it inside and I told them that. It sat on my lawn for months b/c the delivery company went on strike (does that sound like my problem?) PS they picked it up 10 days ago....

Ok, definitly buying one this week, but I was wondering, any benefit of getting the Nordic Trac over a treadmill? Also, saw a Cardio Zone treadmill for sale around 1149. in the paper used. Is this a good deal? I didn't really want to spend that much.... do I have to?
