those people can kiss my a$$ - I have a lot of things to do, including working full time, going to grad school, and planning this wedding, so they can shut it!!

I have had enough of this comment myself People ask me questions about the wedding and then tell me that I'm planning to far in advance. I've just stopped talking about it all together

I know what you are saying! When I booked my RH 2 years in advanced and started looking for photographers, people were like 'you have 2 years.' Yeah 2 years but I want to be ahead of the game. I would rather eliminate that 'crunch time,' and be prepared. I can't believe how fast this year went, and honestly I still have a lot to do. People need to mind their B I business, and learn when to bite their tongue.

yes, very frustrating. happens to me all the time. happened more in the past than it does now-- thank god it happens less and less often now. we were engaged since june 23rd of last year so imagine how much people reacted when we told them last year that we weren't until 9/07...

they are wrong to act like we are doing things so far in advance because you are right-- things DO book up so quick on LI... it's ridiculous. we went to look at our hall in October of 2005 for Sept 07 and there were a few dates already taken!!!!!!!!!!

also, our band-- we booked them in november of 2005 and they were booking into sept and oct of 07 already-- here and there, not a lot of dates but a few!!!! so believe me, the early bird gets the worm-- i'm doing things at such a nice, non stressful pace-- and we are able to save money and get MORE because we are waiting-- we can afford a lot more and we are not pulling our hair out $$$ wise....

so the moral of the story: they don't know what they are talking about, screw them!! lol

I went to just look at dresses the other day and my mom asked what the rush was!! Meanwhile 2 of the 3 photographers I called are already booked on our day.

I hate that....I absolutely hate that. My family is so not into things now. They tell me you got plenty of time, even my maid of honor who is my cousin does't seem too interested. But could I blame her she planned a wedding in 3 months and when I tell you it was a headache that's what it was and I was her maid of honor. What I have learned to do is planned things myself and not discuss what im doing with anyone. And once they become interested probably a month before the wedding I will let them know that basically everything is done, and thanks for your help!!!

Im so glad you posted that I thought I was the only one going through this.

I know what you're talking about trust me. The same thing happened to me this past weekend. I was telling my parents how FH and me went to the jewelry store where he bought my engagement ring to take a look at wedding bands and actually found the ones we want, so we placed the order for them. Their first reaction was 'yea right, already? You have so much time still'.

grrr....i had to explain to them that the sales woman told us that the price of gold is predicted to double by the end of the year so the rings we want now might be double the price by christmas time so it's smart to buy them now and pay monthly til we pay them off. I had to give them this whole explanation and it really bugged me. My wedding is only 14 months away and sometimes they make it sound like it's still lightyears away!

I hate that - it really drives me nuts - and then theres the ppl that say - WOW - its SO far away!!??!!?!? why are you having such a long engagement? I dont think 1 yr and half is a LONG engagement - but my response is 'well - when you plan a wedding that includes 300 guests - it needs takes a long time to prepare everything!

I think in some way or another we all deal with this. I mostly got that when we were like 2 years away and booking things already. There is now such a sense of relief that we did that right away considering our new addition coming in June. I bypass negative vibes and words. In one ear and out the other. People don't realize how hard it is to plan a wedding, until they experience it on their own.

I've also come to realize not to talk about my wedding unless someone asks directly. I am finding that if I say something I either get that person's two cents or some negative comment. I don't need either. My FH and I are debating on whether to move our wedding up just to be done with all of this already!

That pisses me off too.. especially because when I first got engaged and I wanted to plan everything, everyone was like Oh my God that is so early.. so i actually believed them.. and I have done nothing as far as planning now I am starting to stree out...
