If you invited Mr. and Mrs. Smith, and Mrs. Smith doesn't want to go, does Mr. Smith get to bring another guest?
And since every bride has to vent about these, I'll do it now: 1. How hard is it to write your name on the response card? I got about 4 responses with no name on them 2. Since when do people get to decide if they can bring a date or assume that they can? 3. Is it that hard to decide if you want to go to a wedding BEFORE the RSVP date? If you can't make up your mind if you want to come to my wedding, I don't want you there.

I think it depends...I know that I would be ok with it because I am inviting everyone ' with guest' but if your not doing that and someone brings someone else the NO its not ok..thats the difference I think..

Re: Does anyone understand people?
Technically, Mr. & Mrs. Smith was invited not Mr. Smith with a guest so if she can't make it he should come alone. Personally, I would let that one slide.
I don't understand the not filling in the rsvp cards - maybe they were so excited to respond they forgot
I agree with every bride with what is the big deal with deciding to attend a function. It's not a life time decision it's one day - if you can go, fantastic. If you can't that's fine too. Just let me know

I have no problem with Mr.Smith bringing another guest. Going alone to a wedding sucks so I wouldn't force that person to do so.

Re: Does anyone understand people?
I personally would have no objection to someone bringing a different. My sis in law's mom is a widow and she was invited with a guest. She decided to come alone, but I would not have objected if she brought her son, or anyone else really. I know what etiquette states, but you want your guests to be comfortable.
Of course, if a guest's husband/wife could not come and they chose to uh, hire an escort, well I can see that being a problem.
And I am still waiting for RSVPs too. I feel annoyed because I put postage on all those envelopes!

If you invited Mr. and Mrs. Smith, and Mrs. Smith doesn't want to go, does Mr. Smith get to bring another guest? --If you invited Mr. and Mrs. Smith specifically, as opposed to Mr. Smith and guest, he is not OK to bring someone else without asking.
1. How hard is it to write your name on the response card? I got about 4 responses with no name on them --Not hard, people are morons. 2. Since when do people get to decide if they can bring a date or assume that they can? --See #1

Re: Does anyone understand people?
i have hard so many people have problems with not writing names on response cards. for all of our family parties we have put numbers next to everyone's name on the invite list, and the corresponding number on the back of the reply card. makes things easier when people aren't very smart.

Re: Does anyone understand people?
i numbered the rsvp cards too! although, nobody didnt write their name, im missing just 15 people! - my rsvp date was friday though, i made it early, so i wouldnt freak out if they were late. i still dont get why people dont know how to rsvp
btw. NO WAY should Mr. Smith bring someone else if Mrs. Smith couldnt go. totally wrong. sorry - if he asked you-IMO that is still a no no.. but better than just writing it/
people are so messed up. UGH

I do not think it is appropriate for Mr. Smith to bring someone other than Mrs. Smith.

Re: Does anyone understand people?
I hear ya!
1. Apparently it's pretty challenging for some people. I numbered the back of my RSVP cards and sure enough, not one person forgot to write their names in. But, I bet you that had I NOT numbered the cards, I would have had at least 10.
2. No. That is rude, IMO. I wouldn't do that. But, unfortuantely, you can't really do anything about it.
3. We had a couple 'phone in' their RSVP THIS MORNING. Nuff said.

Re: Does anyone understand people?
i had this issue with my aunt in california. she and her husband and three kids were invited. husband didn't want to go and she wanted to bring her sister in law, but bringing one sister in law meant inviting her other sister in law and i was not up for inviting my aunts in-laws! people are not considerate...that is what i've learned!

I think it depends on the situation. If someone needs to bring someone for the ride there or if they don't want to be alone, I guess it's okay.

I don't really have a problem with Mr. Smith bringing someone else. It's the people who add on one or more guests that get to me!! Like its a family BBQ!!! Hello!!! People need to get a clue!!
