DH and I are thinking about going to a financial advisor but don't have any good recommendations. I just met with one that charges about $800 - $1,000 to do a financial analysis with recommendations and a plan for the future. Is this worth it?

Who do you bank with? I used the financial advisor/planner at my bank and he was wonderful and full of knowledge.. I'd call up your bank branch and find out.. It's pretty silly to spend that kind of money when you can have a perfectly good one at your fingertips.

Good luck!

I bank with Citibank, but I was nervous about using them for financial planning because I thought they may just be pushing their own products and not taking an independant view of our financial status. The advisor I met with is not an insurance broker, she's an independant advisor.
