When I was in grade school I bought a small black and white bunny rabbit. I'm now 24 and 'sylvester' is still alive and kicking. He is slower and partially blind, but very loving and just hangs out in his cage.
My problem is my parents are moving from Long Island to NC next week and they can't move with him because they know he isn't up to the long drive (which is why I didn't take him, my husband is active duty and we've moved 3x's since our wedding) and they don't want to put him down either unless they have no other choice.
So does anyone want a free bunny with cage and whatever else my parents have for him...
The bunny is in bethpage, and also does anyone know of any bunny rescues or places that they could abandon him to if it comes to that?
Thanks

Awww... I would take him if I had a place to live! I can't believe how long he is living! How old is the bunny?

Re: Does anyone want a free bunny rabbit.
Besides being very elderly and partially blind, Is the rabbit sick?
If it comes down to it, why not see if he can handle the drive instead of euthanasia?
I will ask my DH tonight when he gets home from work if he has any ideas.
There is a rescue organization called Save A Pet located in Port Jefferson Station on Route 112, but I'm not sure if they would take him.
What about the House Rabbit Society?
My DH deals with that organization...I'll tell him to bring home info tonight.

Re: Does anyone want a free bunny rabbit.
lol, my parents figured 8 years also!
I guess we just loved him up so much he knew a good thing and has kept on going.
Kathy, my parents are in bethpage but they close tomorrow. I think all else fails they will go to the North Shore Animal League and see what they can do. The movers came today so I haven't been able to speak to my mom.
None of us want to put him down, but there is no way he would make the trip. My mom is the only driver so they are taking 2 days to get to NC (she doesn't see well at night) and they are driving in an Altima, with the two dogs in there crates in the backseat. There isn't room for the rabbit's cage back there really plus once they get to there new apartment only my mom is moving in until they get packed up and my Dad is staying at an hotel with the dogs. When I say the ride would be too much for him I mean having to sit with the dogs would drive him crazy, plus the rabbit doesn't handle the car well with his eyes (he freaks out when he doesn't know what's going on)
