I have 310 people on my list to invite to the wedding and unfortunatly they all need to be invited although I know they all will not come. Me and my FH both have HUGH families. The hall holds 300 people but I don't think comfortably. I am really hoping that I get 250-275 yes's. Just curious as to how many no's people have gotten. I have been to many wedding websites and they say generally they are usually about 10%-20% of the guests do not come. My friend recently got married and had 250 people on her invite list, Only 5 people did not go. That scares me.

The 20% average is exactly that - an average - some people have less, some more. I think if you are inviting that many people you have to be prepared that THAT many people could show up!

Its different for everyone. I guess the 10-20% is the average.
Sometimes people that were invited with guests didn't bring one, or if the couple was married, maybe the husband or wife couldn't come, so that actually cut our list by 10-15 people. (This is just a guess from thinking about my list)
Are you sending out STD? That will make a difference too.

about 5 percent of who i invited didnt come. i was very shocked i figured with getting married on a friday in december i would have had a lot more nos

I invited 280 and only had 165 show up. It totally depends though.

I wouldn't assume that everyone would come. People might have vacation planned, and who knows what else. ETA: Did you give them a minumum yet? You should give them what you are hoping for 250-275, then you could always add

I was married during easter weekend, which is part of the reason why we got a lot of no's. However I invited like 225 and had about 148. So, lots of people didnt come.

i also had 311 on my invite list...my mothers doing... but on the day i was very happy that 189 had replied yes and that still 20 of that where sick or something happened... i had a hard time as it was just saying hi to them , my mom went over board and demanded that i go to everytable and by ends night i relized i only danced one slow dance with my dh i hated my mom doing that to me.... it turned into her show not mine! ireally wish i could do it over but i am now on my one year and very happy! so good luck and try to remember it is your day! and enjoy it the way you want to! and rememeber to eat and drink and at dinner sit back and look at your whole room and see your ideas come to life!!!!!
