It's not necessary to give your FH a grooms cake..its a southern tradition. But if you decide to do it its done during the rehearsal dinner and you would then give ur FH his present that day too.

I am not going to do a groom's cake. 1. My FH probably has never heard of one 2. We need to save money and I heard those can cost quite a bit.

You don't have to. I think I'm going to because we're going to have a cake buffet with several different options, and, besides, I know it will make him ridiculously happy if I arrange for a Giants cake. My sister will have a heart attack, but it's not her wedding.

I'm thinking of doing one in a poker theme too! I know I shouldn't spend the extra money, but I think it would be something nice to do for him since attention is usually not placed on the groom and it would be a nice surprise.

not doing a groom's cake, never heard of it until wedding websites brought it up. i'm sure FH never heard of it & would rather I didn't spend the cash on that- he doesn't even like cake!

I agree! My FH would be like I'd would have been just as happy with a hersey kiss or a snickers bar.
