FH and I have started to discuss invites. I told him when the time comes that we would send out X amount of invites (about 20% more than our guaranteed minimum) and we would most likely meet our expected minimum. His response was but what if everyone says yes Now ladies he should know better than to ask a silly question like this. But then I got to thinking what the odds of that ever happening are? Is it possible that all of the invites you send out RSVP yes?

hello date twin!! I really doubt that everyone will say yes.....you definitely need to invite more than your minimum just to make sure you make your minimum.
My minimum is 150 and we're inviting around 210, so I'm thinking we'll have around 170 or so. Only time will tell!!

i really doubt EVERYONE will say YES. 'things happen' is the best way i can phrase it.
there are a million reasons why SOMEONE will say NO. i had two separate cuples who REALLY, REALLY wanted to come to my wedding. they weren't able to make it because they both had family weddings ON THE SAME DAY!
i don't think you have to worry about everyone saying yes. but i also would advise you not to put all your eggs in the '20%decline' basket. many girls here will tell you that each and every wedding is different.

While we didn't have EVERYONE respond yes, we only had about 5 people say they couldn't attend. We invited 181 people and had 176 attend.
The people who couldn't make it were people we had a feeling wouldn't be able to make it. (ie. One couple live in Hawaii and had just been in NY 2 months earlier.) So don't always count on all those no responses to happen.
I would say prepare to pay for everyone coming and if you get your 20% of no responses it's just less money you're shelling out.

I hope so! We're not inviting that many people, and except for those that we're inviting even though we know they probably won't come (family like my fiance's uncle, who never goes to anything outside of NJ), I hope everyone shows up! The reason we're inviting them is that they're, you know, necessary to us in some way. Close relatives, very good friends, etc. I guess the smaller your guest list, the more likely you'll get mostly 'yeses.'

I think it totally depends upon whom you're inviting. If there are only extremely close friends and family, then I hope you would have near 100% 'yes''s. If there are a lot of busy people who do a lot of business traveling, live far away, or are too frail to endure a busy day of celebrating, I suspect there would be more 'no''s.
We're REALLY hoping we getting at least 90% yes, since if it were less than that, we wouldn't make our minimum.....

Yes, it totally depends who your invitees are. We know we want a very small wedding (about 80 people or so) but we invited 108. I really hope that 20% say no, but we doubt it. So we'll have to deal with it.
You know your guests and probabaly the percentage of folks that might say yes or no. Would it be 100% yes? I highly doubt it.

we did have a decent amount
we invited 325 and 276 said yes
you will be surprised on who say NO
we were takaen back by a few
but you will def get nos

I agree. We had people that we thought would never come in a million years, and they did! We had people we thought would come that weren't able to make it.
We had friends who got married that invited 250 people and only 8 didn't come.

Trust me not everyone will say yes...invited 238 I believe and had about 156...it was a summer wedding
