My cousin told me I should definetly get a money/envelope bag for our envelopes. I have a card holder for the table but she told me to get one of those bags because people still the cards( and money in them) alot. Are people really that horrible to still gifts at a wedding?

just put the the enevelope box somewhere where everyone can see it...and if you got the mailbox or treasure chest rig the box so that it can not be opened without a struggle...that everyone will notice....only the slot to stick enevelopes in should be accessable to guests...and you will notice if someone tries to put their hand in there

It does not happen a lot. I worked at Sandcastle for a few years and only one time out of 200 weddings was anything stolen. I really would not worry about it. Just keep the box next to your table in view.

I think it does...At Fh's cousins Sweet 16 (on a BOAT, mind you), some of her envelopes were stolen. I wish her parents had strip-searched everyone- most of the guests were family and very close friends.

we had a card box, and when people handed us gifts we brought it to the box.
Only 1 envelope is missing (and FH might have dropped it! )other than that everyitng is accounted for.
it had a top that just had a slit in it, and it is hard to get off, so we would have notice if it was taken off.
it was on a table behind us..

I wouldn't say it is 'horrible' of them to bring you a gift, especially if it's from your registry. But it's not the norm in NY.
ETA: oops.... I misread. I thought you meant they were horrible for giving actual gifts as opposed to cash
I have never known anyone personally that had money stolen at their wedding. how awful!

An idea to consider...conceal a lock on the box. That might give you some peace of mind.

when fh and I built our card box, he screwed the box to the base. so the only way the cards come out is if you take the whole thing apart.

I've been looking at a lot of card boxes cause I definately want one!!! We're going to do a lock and a slit on the top to drop it in to avoid any worries. It will also be on a table next to us in plain sight so everyone can see it and no one will have the nerve to steal from it.

I got one but she gave it to me at the rehearsal dinner. (She really has no money and made a little something for me) At the wedding it was all cash and checks.

I didn't have a card box or anything like that. I gave the envelopes to my Dad and he and the BM but them in the bridal suite which was locked.

We had our bird cage behind us so people had to get around us (but of course we were hardly sitting), had no problems though.

My sister got a few cards stolen. Guests started asking her after the wedding why she hadn't cashed their checks!

I don't know how much that happens. I would say less than people think, but just to be safe my cards are going in a sturdy box that will be sitting on our table. I was thinking of getting a wedding purse, but decided that I don't want to be stuck carrying it around.

I just won a really cute money box on ebay I spent $29 I'll down load the picture for you! Well the one from the site I didnt get it yet she's making it and sending it out. but it has a lock and key and you can use it over again. and she will personalize it. here are the pictures maybe this will help you
