Lillettes had a decent amount of plus size dresses to try on. Huntington Bridal Suite had about 7 or 8 to try on, and Wedding Center in Commack had a bunch. HTH

I think there was a plus-size brides thread - look for it, that my be your best resource.

Lillettes had a lot of sizes. It was the first place that the dresses were zipping on me.. I tried on sizes 12, 14, and 16

I think they also have dresses where the sample is adjustable...can be taken in or let out

Ditto on Lillette's... I'm a size 14 and got my dress there. Also, Lynbrook Bridal Center (Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook next to white Castle) seemed to have some larger sizes... I was n't too impressed with that place overall, but I am sure it's fine...

I definitely recommend Lillette's. They had a decent number of plus sized gowns to try on. They also provided me a long line bra and slip to try on gowns with to help me get a better idea. Ask for an appointment with Lydia...loved her...she patiently spent HOURS with me on two different occasions.

I was really worried about trying on dresses because I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to see what they looked like because all of the samples would be too small. But, even though I couldn't completely zip most of the probably 50 gowns I tried on, I could always get them on, they were just a little open in the back. It made me feel a lot better that the majority of the girls who were in the different shops had the same problem! And you definitely can get a good idea of what they look like with it open in a little in the back.

HTH...sorry I'm rambling

i'm plus size too and I haven't had too many problems trying dresses on as yet (some you just can't close but that's no big deal)... patience and a good mood always help!

Places on my list for this week:
Lillettes
Burtons
Fantasias

Place's I've gone and liked (good selection, nice staff):
Bridal Suite of Bayshore
Bridal Suite of Centereach

Places I've gone to and had a mixed reaction:
Adriennes (I had one woman helping me - she was great- but had to take care of something half way through my visit, so I got someone else who was not friendly at all)
Paradise Bridal - the saleswoman seemed a but standoffish - the second woman was pretty helpful.

Places I've gone and didn't like and why:
The Wedding Center (didn't care for the style of the selection of dresses but everyone's different!)
David's Bridal - bit crazy there and I'm clueless, so it was a bit much. Also the sales woman aren't the friendliest bunch

FM me for more info if you like.

I agree with Lynbrook Bridal. My sister got her dress there and it was beautiful. I went to look for my dress there and was not thrilled with their selection.

I got my dress at Angel Bridal in East Islip. They had dresses up to a size 28 available to try on. The store is small, but they really have some beautiful dresses.

Good Luck!

I bought my dress at Lynbrook Bridal, and although I'm not a plus size, I loved their service. I dealt and still am dealing with Carmela and Stella. I love them!!!
