Does my bustle look crooked?

A little but I think it's just the way it's laying.

How many buttons is yours? When I had my fitting today there were only three & I felt the same way ... now I'm doing six buttons.

It doesn't look like it's folding in on itself correctly, that could be what's throwing it off.

I've come to the conclusion that the whole bustling thing is way freaky!!

Re: Does my bustle look crooked?

Would you consider a french bustle instead? I think the way you have your buslte takes away from the detailing on the top. Unless you have beading on the bottom of the hem of the dress, I would not do that kind of bustle. JMO

Re: Does my bustle look crooked?

I asked the seamstress when she did my bustle if we could do it another way and she said 'No, this is the way we do this dress'. How can I argue with a professional... I know its my dress but...

Hmmm..... I would go back and try the dress on again, and tell them to just do the french bustle so you can see how it looks. There is no reason for you to have to have it the way they do it. Perhaps they want to take the easy way out and do it that way. If you are paying for the alterations, you should be the one to make the choice, not them. I honestly think it will look more elegant the other way, I tried several maggie's dresses on because I was obsessed with the saches crossed on the back, and tried them on with the under bustle. It can be done, if they really want to. But of course that was the look I wanted, that way you see the whole back of the dress, not just the lace and up to the bow, and the weight of the train will not be pulling on you back and waist, instead on the bottom of the dress. Unless, of course you love the way it looks now.....

I think you should do a post asking girls who have worn that dress to post pics of their bustles! I've seen a few brides on here who have worn it already (I almost bought it too!), but unfortunately, I can't remember their names off hand...but I'm searching for you anyway.

Tell me if I'm wrong but that is a Maggie dress right?

Now if I'm right the back of my dress (a Maggie) looks exactly the same and my bridal store told me to do a French Bustle with that dress. They told me it is more comfortable and it won't take away from the corset detail!

Re: Does my bustle look crooked?

Karen-I did the under bustle with mine. It has strings that tie underneath. I really like it because it's very secure. Here's a picture of what it will look like

Re: Does my bustle look crooked?

I am wearing the Dion as well and I was told I would have to get a french bustle for this dress. I would call and talk to someone there.

Re: Does my bustle look crooked?

I called today and have an appointment for Wednesday to get a French Bustle. I asked the salesgirl why the seamstress would tell me that that is the only bustle for Dion... she said that maybe she doesnt like it done any other way. I said... but its my dress!!!

Re: Does my bustle look crooked?

Good for you!! Make sure they put enough buttons to hold the weight of the bustle and make sure they sew strings underneath the dress to help keep it up. The buttons alone may not be enough. Take pictures when you go back for the fitting and let us see!! Good luck
