Re: does slimfast work?
Ever read the ingredients in that stuff? Doesn't seem healthy!!!
you are better off just eating well-balanced, calorie controlled meals with vegatbles, fruit, and protein... Drinking your lunch isn't somehitng you can do forever - bettr off finding somehting you can live with, will definitely eliminate yo-yo dieting, which is so bad for the heart!!!!
Be good to yourselves ladies - be healthy and strong!!!

Yes and no. Anyone I know who tried this lost weight initially, but gained it all back and then some once they started eating normally again.
I wouldn't go with this, or any fad diets. None of them really work long-term. Just watch what you eat, watch your portions, and don't deprive yourself completely of foods that you love. I've heard good things about Weight Watchers, though I've never tried it.

Re: does slimfast work?
I tried it in college and I would find myself starving by my next meal, but you can't eat and drink it that would just bulk you up. I lost alot more weight watching what I ate and with excercise

Re: does slimfast work?
my sister lost a lot of weight for her wedding drinking Slim Fast. she also worked out. IMO, it's good if you need fast results but not for long term. how long can you drink 2 shakes a day for? she got tired of it pretty quickly.

Re: does slimfast work?
Before my wedding, I used shakes (not slim fast ones though) as a meal replacement once or twice a day, and it worked really really well for me. I was full for hours and they satisfied my chocolate cravings. Granted, I used 2/3 water and 1/3 milk and put it in the blender with some ice, so it really did feel like a milk shake - like a treat. Ooooh - I also did the vanilla one with just water, ice, and a banana blended in and that was really yummy.
Come to think of it, maybe I will start that again...

I agree! it might make you smaller, but it is just making you loose muscle and making your metabolism slower!

Re: does slimfast work?
Well, it is true that shakes like these are a crutch. I don't think anyone could stay on them permanently and I think that doing that is probably the only way to keep the weight off permanently if that is the only thing you are doing.
However, that being said, I think that losing weight the right way (portion control, eating the right foods, working out) is challenging if not impossible for most people who haven't done it before.
I think that shakes like these are a good entry tool, if you know what I mean. They kind of get you over the hump while you are learning to eat right, or incorporate more physical activity into your lifestyle or whatever while still seeing some results.
In short, I think that they make the process less painful. And while I am no where near an expert, I think that almost any tool that can ease you into a positive lifestyle is a good one.

Well - yes and no about it being a good tool - for some people, it can make things more frustrating - you wind up drinking these horrible drinks, then you are starving and depriving yourself, and making the whole process a lot more painful than it needs to be. Or, you suffer, lose some weight, and then gain it back, which brings on the depressing yo-yo syndrome, making people feel out of control and detached from their bodies. While on a good plan you are eating what you want (just less) eating enough so you aren't starving, feeling healthy, and losing weight - I find that people give up quicker on those starvation-shake type diest than the healthy way - people can't believe they can lose weight by actually eating and not getting hungry...
Just my opinion (and based on my experiences - I used to be almost 200 pounds, now at 130-135)
