DOES the madness stop

DOES the madness stop

I was suppose to see the headhunter on Friday, but with all that crazyness I called and canceled. We were to meet today. I was polite to tell her the truth, I was to see her on Friday but due to the problems with the williamsburg bridge I wasnt able to get into the city. We rescheduled for this morning and unforutuntly the landlord shut the water off and I have no water.

She had no idea who I was and when I told her who I was again she had no idea. I told her we were to meet and I told her the situation and she very rudely told me to call her when I was ready to come in and hung up on me.

UH THIS IS WHY I HATE HEADHUNTERS

Re: DOES the madness stop

Dont you dare go to another headhunter again !
Call her back and tell her off ! ahh, dont waste the phone call or your energy Save it for LIW !

But seriously, I think the GOOD headhunters can get it done via email and phone. There is no need for you to go on an interview unless its a job interview, skip those headhunters. Try to deal with email only.
This is a little strategyI had with emails. Type up a simple email, stating what type of job youre looking for, where you can be reached, etc etc.
Go through online job ads, and copy and paste that email letter/cover letter and resume to as many places as you can, EVEN IF they are not hiring for the exact position you want. I emailed to places even if they had related positions, which would hopefully mean that they would like to have your resume on hand.

Also, the Employment Centers pay for certain career training. You have to prove to them that you are not getting hired because you are missing XYZ skills and they will pay for that training. I was never able to get it, they claimed my resume was fine (sure, why couldnt i get a job ! ) But look into that also if you'd like that ! Get some type of certification thats in demand in your field. I know one guy that got an expensive computer training (unix) certification paid for...

again, good luck, and smile, dont let those miserable people get you down !

Chippa, you definatly can go to school while being on unemployment.. its called a 519.. You go to school all the while collecting unemployment and you are not required to find a job durning that time..

Re: DOES the madness stop

really??? OMG I want to go back to college and finish up, I need literally 15 credits to get my degree (my BA). Long story on why I had to bail out my senior year.

I'd love to go and finish up (but I know i will need student loans to cover the semester)

I am going to talk to my college and see if I can enroll in summer courses if I am not working at that time.

thanks for that tip.

Cip now that you are on Unemoployment you may acutally qualify for aid.

Thats what you should do today, it would probably be more productive and it would life up your spirits.

Go look into going back to school

I'll definatly be calling my good friends at Sallie Mae and my good friends of TAP to see if I can qualify for grants.

Now if i could just pay back Spring 2001 semester....

I cant register until that balance is paid off.

Re: DOES the madness stop

In defense for some headhunters...

it ****s that she was rude to you.

But the reason they want to meet with you first, is because they know their clients. they know the CEOs and executives that you will have to work with, and they want to send the best person, not only with experience but with personality too.
You get stacks of resumes of really great people but you need to know who to send where.
I usually wouldn't send somebody to one of my clients even if they had the BEST resume unless I have met them. Just because X has 10 years at Bear Stearns, doesn't mean my client at Lazard is going to love them.

Just playing devil's advocate...

I think we are making progress with the water. I heard some noises and I just went to check the kitchen and it seems to be running (but very little pressure), and i checked the bathroom and in the shower and sink there is only cold water...

so there seems to be progress..hopefully by noon there will be water, both hot and cold and with pressure

Jen that I definatly know. I was actually told that by a head hunter. I said to her honestly do you have a job for me, do you have something in front of you that says job opening need someone and you are going to fax my resume.

I guess she understood my fustration and told me straight out she has a lot of clients and wants to send the best person. yea my resume looks great, but my personality and the VP's may clash or something looks great on paper but it may not be for me. She knows these people, she deals with them all the time, has a bond with them, knows what they want and are looking for so its easier for her to see me and talk to me so she knows who would be a great match for me.

thanks
