Does the Officiant get an invite?

Dumb question...i know the Officiant is coming to the wedding..(well at least i hope!..haha)...but do they get an official invitation since we would like to invite her to stay if she wants?

I did. Reason being mine is traveling from the City, so I wanted to not make her take a trip for only a 1/2 hour ceremony if she wanted to stay and enjoy herself.

We gave our officiant an invite and she and her husband said yes!

I don't think there's a need to invite the officiant unless you know them personally. My minister is someone that I'm paying a ridiculous amount of money to for 20 minutes worth of work. I don't think that he needs to eat for free too.

depends how close you are to him... We are NOT inviting our priest... But I know my MOH will invite hers... Each person has different situations!

We invited our priest, and he declined. I think it's a nice gesture. My uncle actually did the ceremony however (he's a deacon) so of course he came.

I would say yes if you want them to share in the celebration afterwards - I think it depends on the relationship. We are inviting our officiant to the reception (only b/c it's my dad)

Yes, it is the polite and formal way of asking them to stay for the reception.

Yes, I'm doing it. I think it's nice, but probably not necessary if you don't already know them well (mine is my brother so of course he's invited!).

Our priest came... and I dont think I invited him...LOL.
I was too young to know better, but we live in a small community and the priest always goes.
By the time I had my kids baptised, I was a little wiser, and invited the priest (s) to the after party.. the first one came, as he was the same priest that baptised my husband , his siblings, married my inlaws as well as us..
( all ex now..btw..LOL).
