ex/... my dress is a-line... the dress i lovee for my bm's is strappless and a line but the back is pick up style...
would this look ridiclous?

I know some girls pick out BM dresses that go along with or complement their wedding gown, but I don't think it is necessary. I find that too restricting, plus I don't even know the difference between different types and styles of dresses!

i don't think they need to match but they should compliment your dress.
my dress has pick-ups & my girls r wearing a ruched empire dress.

It doesn't have to match, then the bride won't stand out. In my case, my dress is a trumpet style, and I don't think that would look good on some of my girls. I just picked something that would flatter everyone. They're not a full a-line, it's more in between straight and a-line.

I don't think they should match per se, as in exactly the same, but I think they should at list 'fit together' or 'flow' KWIM?

I don't think it is necessary. I have a halter dress and my girls have a halter dress but it was just pure coincidence.
