I think this is etiquette that the man's full name appears on the invite. I don't know why though. It looks weird sometimes, especially if his last name appears on the invite already. I think I may break with etiquette and not include my FH's last name, since his parent's names (and his last name) will be right below.

That's exactly why I am asking! Lol....I feel like if it were me and him inviting people, and it wasn't my parents name first, then I would have my full name and his full name but I am not sure if I want to include my parents doing the inviting, then my first name only, then his full name followed by the 'son of Mr & Mrs ____'.....I guess this is a lot harder than I thought!

ehh..i never thought about it..but both parents always refer to themselves that way when the situation calls for it, and both moms defer to the dads names, so i dont really think its a big deal..

thankss though

Re: does this invite wording work?

This is mine - my parents divorced, and FH's parents are still married......so my mom's name is on it, his is not, and neither of us have our last names attached:

Ms. Linda S and Mr. Donald S
together with
Mr. & Mrs. Michael S
request the honour of your presence
at the marriage of their children

Laura
and
Michael Jason

Saturday the fifth of June
two thousand and ten
at three o'clock in the afternoon

Holy Name of Mary Church
Valley Stream, NY

FMIL saw this and was very happy that she and FFIL are mentioned on it as well......even though she is not mentioned separately from FFIL, people understand why my mother is.

ETA: I don't have a middle name, which is why there isn't one listed next to my name

Re: does this invite wording work?

according to FMIL who has read the wedding etiquette books just one too many times,

you are suppose to include you maiden name on the invite along with your first & middle name since it would technically be the last time it is seen in writing.

you are suppose to include your FHs full name, first, middle & last since that will be your new name & people can then write the checks to Mr. & Mrs. FHs first name & your new last name.

i think its really personal preference at this point. invites i have received have been all different ways. i personally like it better when it includes the last name because then i make sure to spell it correctly on the check.

We are 'hosting' so our invites will go something like

'Together with their families

Ilana Beth *****
and
Michael James *******

blahblahblah'
