Does this sound right to you? Doctor question

Does this sound right to you? Doctor question

OK, so I am having some issues w. my BCP and have been calling my doc for three days to ask him what I should do. I finally get called back by another doc from the practice, not my usual. She is all rushed, and seemed to not be listening to closely when I told her about my prob. Then, she changed my BCP prescription on the phone. Without EVER seeing me. Is this strange?? I am thinking of calling back tomorrow to try and get my regular doc on the phone. I dont want to be stalker patient, but I have been having issues with the Pill, and dont know if the solution is to bounce around w. a new pill every 6 mos. BTW, the one she put me on now is Ortho Tri-Cyclen. Is that good?

I had a problem with my pills and my doctor did switch them without me going in for an appointment. I did speak directly with my doctor though.

Ortho Tri Cyclen are known to be very good.

I was switched ortho-tri-cyclen - after i was having a problem with another pill, and I liked this one so much better, not more problems since I switched.

Mine have been switched over the phone before. That wouldn't worry me.

Pill question

Different pills have different side effects in all different women. Usually doctors start with one of their favorites or choose one based on the patient's specific needs or history. Typically you give it like a three month trial and if it doesn't fit well you switch to a different one with a different hormone profile. It would be normal to switch to prescription over the phone, assuming the doctor was able to get a good understanding of what your problems were with the first pill. Hope that helps. BTW, Orth-Tricylen is a popular low-dose pill with low androgens so it is great for acne (if you have it).

Re: Pill question

She probably had your chart since you are a patient in the office.

If you are NOT comfortable with her decision, call and tell the reception you ONLY want to talk to YOUR doctor.

I've been changed over the phone also by a practice partner, not my MD. He had my chart. I was also switched to ortho tri cyclen and have had none of the previous problems....

Re: Pill question

Thanks ladies, you have made me feel much better. When I told FH, he freaked and said that she should not have changed my prescription w.out seeing me first, and got me all panicky. She did have my file in front of her, though. I am going to call my doc tomorrow just in case anyway. I dont care if they think I am a paranoid patient I think what annoyed me is that it seemed so rushed, you would think they could spare 2 minutes to talk to a patient.
