Does this sound stupid...

For some reason I thought that the bride to be on the Christmas before her wedding year - usually gets some wedding related christmas gifts

such as wedding ornament or like a book on wedding related things (in general, wedding related items).

None of my family members thought of me in this way.

What do you think?

Maybe it depends on the person... I know that we purposely didn't register before the holidays because we didn't want wedding or engagement gifts for our holiday gifts because we really don't have a need for them yet...

It depends, I know my family didn't because they felt it was better to get us each our own individual presents for Christmas instead.

My sister gave us these little bride and groom ornaments for our 3 ft Christmas tree. Personally I would have been upset if I only got wedding related presents.

Oh! I think you might even be lucky!

Last year, we got some nice cookbooks. but, we also got 'household' items. We both still lived with our parents at the time, and the gift givers knew this. So, we had no use for any of it.

I think it depends on the person...our mothers both got us wedding related items and things for our future home...everyone else thought of us seperately...

I didn't get anything either if that makes you feel better. To tell you the truth I never heard about that before

I did get one item from my registry - an electric carving knife. But, that is because I asked my sister to get it for me so that I could carve the turkey on Christmas day! Other than that, I would have been disappointed to get things from our registry. This is my last year as a singleton and I was very happy with my own individual gifts.

Its probably because they are saving on getting you things for your shower.

Holidays gifts are a little more personal and maybe felt it was best to leave all those gifts for the right time....Your shower!

I had gotten engaged in Novmeber, so my aunts made a point of asking what I wanted fo ME, for Christmas, like pajajams, b/c they said we'd be getting house stuff for the next year- engagment presents, shower prestents, etc.
One aunt actaully got my MOM a book about being the mother of the bride! She did give us a heart shaped bottle stopper alogn with our presents, because we were newly engaged. My cousin sent me 2 books, but I think they wer just before or after christmas.

It was this year actually, 2/12 months after we got married, that we got wedding related stuff--almost all of the extra stuff from our registries & other household things! It was very thoughtful & generous of people, but it is kinda ncie to get something for yourself too.

my mom's the best thoguh- she got us 4 sets of our flatware & then a shirt for him & an outfit for me! A little from both wrolds!
