I think that would be a beautiful tribute to your relatives.

I would leave the issue alone for now and readdress it closer to your wedding.

Like everyone always says - its your wedding and you should do what you want.

My opinion on this - well, I've never seen or heard of this as many people probably haven't and doing it might cause a big stir. You don't want people to be preoccupied with it and some will have opinions on the matter and it might bother you to listen to everyone's opinions. Why don't you donate money in their honor and write all their names on a small card and have it at every seat. If its going to upset some of the family members than maybe find another way to honor them. If you're getting married in a church you can lay flowers by the Virgin Mary statue in their honor or write about them in the program.

Chippa - I have to agree with SeptBride. I wouldn't go ahead with your idea if it's really going to cause Brian's grandfather so much pain. Is it really worth it? The poor man is still grieving for his loss, and how can anyone tell him to get over it? He obviously loved his wife so deeply. Perhaps you can find another, less overt way of honoring the memory of loved ones that have passed.

And to answer your question - No, I'm sorry...wedding planning only gets harder the closer you get to your wedding date (at least for myself and everyone I know!) LOL!. But, the good news is - once the day arrives NOTHING else matters except that you are marrying the man you love. Hang in there!

What seems like a nice jesture can also be seen as a sad reminder to others. I would respect his wishes on this. Why make an already sad man, even sadder on a happy day?

And sorry, but the planning gets harder and honestly if this is the worst that someone asks of you, be grateful!

I think it's a nice gesture to remember those who are not with you during your wedding. However, you need to balance this nice gesture with the stress that it will cause Brian's grandfather. Would this tribute cause so much distress with him that he would decide not to come to the wedding? I was going to have the officiant to say the names of our grandparents who are not with us. When I told my mother, she said that her mother, who was widowed in 1974 at age 49, would be upset and may cry for the rest of the ceremony and reception. As much as I would like to do this, it's not worth it for me to have my grandmother to be so upset that she can't enjoy herself on this day. In addition, this grandmother is fighting liver cancer and is determined to make it to my wedding in July (at the rate she's going, she may make it to my children's wedding). I would feel bad for the rest of the day if I knew that she was upset because of this nice gesture. You still have some time to decide, so don't make a decision right now - think about it and continue to ask for advice.
