Does your boss know as much as you do??

Does your boss know as much as you do??

I ask because my boss knows only one aspect of our job and nothing else! She doesn't go on any of our programs and they didn't even give her the last one we just got. She doesn't give us acknowlegement of what we really do so we are all underpaid.
Are all bosses oblivious or is just mine??
We are crossing our fingers and toes she will be retiring soon! Please pray for us-lol!

My thoughts & wishes are with you!!

How about a boss that's lazy, sloppy, careless & selfish while you're detail-oriented, helpful, neat and caring? How about a boss whose primary objective for the day is to conquer a computer game, while the job is a distraction away from the games?? Meanwhile this super-boss meets with others in the organization and gives the impression that no one else in the office comes close to doing as much work .. when in fact .. the very opposite is so very true. How about a boss who is so NOT a team player .. HOWEVER .. when super-boss needs a favor .. then it's okay to have team players in the office .. it just doesn't work in reverse.

Can you tell I have a bit of a gripe with my boss, too???

In my old job, I definitely knew more than some of my equals as well as sometimes my boss. I remember finding out a girl I had trained made more than me. But yet they trusted me more. Can you tell I am still bitter????

It's sooo frustrating!! I have been at my job the longest than the other girls I work with and my boss treats me like I just started. She thinks I am some idiot and don't know what to do! I understand that the other girls came into the job with more experience because my job changed years ago and when I started I was more of a production person and now we all do the artistic work BUT I have learned through the years and DO know ALOT.
Ughh-It is just so annoying. Retire already!!

I have been w/ the company for years now. My boss hasnt changed. She's one of those who tells you something, then says 'I said that? when?'.
Today she gave us a break schedule. Comes into my room and says 'i have a problem. If we come up w/a plan you need to stick w/it...I looked her straight in the eyes and said 'You told us xyz, she thought about it and ended up apologizing'. I get along w/her but this annoys me!

At least she apologized!! My boss will never stoop to that level. She thinks she is always right. My boss remembers nothing and is a HUGE control freak.
Retire-Retire-Retire!!!!

well, let's see. I'm in HR. My boss is 5 years older than me. She has a Bachelor's in music, and her previous work experience was in retail.

I have a Master's degree in HR Management, and an HR certification. I also ran a small business for 4 years.

So, I think that my boss has a case of 'right place, right time' going on...

My boss doesn't know more than I do, but I don't think she has to - I mean, she was hired to manage the staff and budget. So she respects what I do and doesn't pretend to know my job inside and out.

My boss has the same thing going 'right place, right time'. 20 years ago her positition needed to be started so they gave it to her. She had NO experience at all and our main boss never wanted her.
I think your boss should know at least a little bit of what you are doing with your job. They might not know how to do everything the job entails but when it comes to asking questions, you shouldn't have to hestitate to ask and be afraid to ask or tell when you make a mistake. She has told me my job was 'on the line' because I made a mistake. She is the type of person who finds fault in you but NEVER looks at the 'big picture' of how much you really put into the job.
