So my fiance and I are obsessed with our rescue dog... She is our daughter. We hate the idea of throw away favors but also think donations can be impersonal.
So we decided to donate to the ASPCA and attach the donation card to a homemade dog biscuit shaped cookie with a note attached that has our dog and us on it:
THANKS FOR COMING TO MY MOMMY & DADDY'S WEDDING.
Honestly... does this favor make us seem like lunatics?
I personally think it's really cool, only I would probably go with a paw-print shaped cookie. One that's shaped like a bone might confuse people - they might think it's a dog treat

I think its a cute idea! Our dogs are our babies too (we're even have the Rev mention them in our ceremony!). I say go with the paw print cookie...I agree that the bone may confuse people.

why dont you say something like, 'thanks for giving my mommy and daddy the opportunity to donate $$ on your behalf. This $$ will go to the aspca to help more puppies like me. love, rover
I would do the donation but I wouldn't necessarily make it from the dog. I would just say 'we have chosen a special way to say thank for your sharing in our day.. in lieu of a traditional favor we have chosen to donate to the aspca..in honor of our rescue dog' or something like that. People who don't know that you have a dog might get confused by the mommy and daddy part.

i think it's a really cute idea and i love the picture idea! i think i would just stick with the tag saying thanks for coming to our wedding though

Ditto, or make it look a little less dog bone-y, or something else to indicate that it's for people. But I love the idea!! (Then again, I'm a crazy dog person, too) I know another 2010 bride is doing this!

i think it's a cute idea in theory .... but i don't think i really like it in actuality (in other words, it sounds cute when you talk about it ... but if i saw it in person, i don't think i'd like it)

I just found the saying 'Dogs: they're not our whole life, but they make our life whole'
We're going to find a way to incorporate that into our wedding.

Cute! i am looking for ways to incorporate ours too! I've come up with.....nothing so far! I may possible steal angshun's idea and have them as table numbers! :D

i'm confused, if it's a dog treat, then i'm not a fan bc i don't have a dog so i would have absolutely no use for it. if it's a cookie shaped like a dog themed item, i like it, but make it clear that this is for humans to eat.
