My fiance is begging me to have a groom's cake. But with the cake and the Fow Hollow provides other desserts as well... is it just a waste of money?
If you are doing one can you please share with me your ideas , bakery and estimation of prices?

Re: Doing a groom's cake?
I am going to do a grooms cake but have it at the rehersal dinner. This way you are feeding less people and it does not get overlooked from everything else at the wedding!
We are both huge Mets fans so I am going to do a Mr. Met cake. I have not gotten prices yet.

I am also going to do it at the rehearsal instead of the wedding! I haven't got exact prices yet, but I will probably be using The Sweet Peace in Lynbrook since I know the owner/chef and she makes beautiful cakes!!

I feel like it's a bit of a waste. What about having one at the rehearsal dinner?

Re: Doing a groom's cake?
I definitely think that I will be doing a grooms cake for my FH at the rehearsal dinner. Not sure what or from where or what kind though! I think I have some time to decide. :)

I want to have a grooms cake for my FH. Not sure who I will use yet. FH and I are big Yankee fans so I wanted to surprise him with a Yankee Stadium cake.

we did ours at the wedding. DH wanted everyone to see it, and see how talented his cosuin is at making these cakes. it was the talk of the wedding. and we had cake left over all week!!!

Re: Doing a groom's cake?
I agree with the other ladies idea of doing the grooms cake at the RD. It would be more cost effective.

Re: Doing a groom's cake?
It all depends ... traditionally grooms cakes are served at the wedding. The story behind them (which I adore) is that all the single women would take home a piece of cake and sleep with it under their pillow. It was supposed to bring them luck in finding a mate!
LOVE IT!
But yes, it would be a waste in many ways if you are having a Venetian or other desserts plus a cake. People barely eat the wedding cake as it is!
I say do it at the rehearsal dinner. Youll have the photos there and then people can really enjoy it! It becomes the highlight of that event! After all, rehearsals arent all that exciting ha ha

Re: Doing a groom's cake?
I am doing it at rd because we only have 40 to that as opposed to the 250-300 at the wedding....cost will be VERY different!

Re: Doing a groom's cake?
can past brides answer this?
i did a groom's cake and spent $250. we didn't have to feed all our guests since we have a huge (and yummy) wedding cake, we ended up bringing most of it home and give it to family/close friends.
