doing the unexpected......
this is a spin-off of a really old thread :
What are you doing at your wedding that is not not following the expected routine?
as for us, a lot of the stuff we're deleting is the stuff that was unexpected 20 years ago....
No bridesmaids dresses.... I instructed them to select a black skirt and ivory top. (I've had bridesmaid dress traumas...)
No save the dates..... why send a pre-invitation when everyone knows its coming? (we're having a small wedding, so all guests are very close to us)
2 bridesmaids, one best man
no videographer
rehersal dinner is being made by me, and will be served at our home the night before the wedding..... and only OOT guests and the bridal party are invited! To me, formal rehersal dinners are too tiring....
no giant bathroom baskets.... to me it's a bit over the top trying to predict every guests' incidental needs over a 5 hour period.... you'll spend a lot of money, and a lot of it will be wasted.... Hate to say it, but my attitude is 'what, my guests will melt if they do without eye drops and hairspray for a couple hours?'
no sign-in book..... sadly, they are forever linked in my mind to funerals...
trying to not have a limo... would love a vintage car that we drive off in together with a just married sign....
