I really am leaning towards doing my own makeup. Is this nuts?
I am pretty comfortable with the way I do it myself.
I figured considering I am addicted to Sephora already that I have and will get some new makeup, and just go to town on myself lol....

Re: Doing your own makeup
No, it's not nuts! My best friend did her own makeup for her wedding and I did my cousin's makeup for her wedding with 'regular' (like L'Oreal) cosmetics.
They both looked great!
I personally wanted my makeup done because, well, it's a special day and why not have someone 'pamper' you... and I think I personally will be too frazzled that day to do my makeup as nicely as I'd like - AND I'd have to put on heavier makeup than I normally apply on myself for professional photography, so I'd rather a pro apply my makeup.
But if you feel confident in doing your own, go for it!

Re: Doing your own makeup
I have seen other brides do this and it comes out great. The only thing I'd do in advance is make sure that you try it a few times and then take some pics of yourself in different lighting. Wedding makeup tends to be more pronounced than what you'd wear everyday so that it shows up in the pics - you'd just need to make sure you were wearing enough blush, lipstick, eye makeup, etc. If you're good with makeup, this can be a great way to save money!

I am not a makeup person. I had 3 different trials with 3 differnt people and was not crazy about how it looked. I did my own and am soooo happy with my choice. I wanted to be comfortable and myself on my wedding day and I was. I have no regrets! I say GO FOR IT!

Re: Doing your own makeup
I sort of did this... my friend (who did make-up professionally) trained me how to do my own make-up... and the morning of, I did most of it, and she did the final touch-ups (adding a few more accents around the eyes) It all worked out perfectly (not to mention it saved about 30 min!) While my hair withered in the misty weather, the make-up stayed put.... (see album for pics)
I got most supplies from sephora. I highly recommend smashbox primer and liquid make-up. It stays on for the WHOLE day. (you need a make-up remover at the end of the night though.... it seriously doesn't come off!) I also used a smashbox peachy blush....
I also got lancome mascara, and a fudge eyeliner and lipstick from origins.
I also recommend taking your own nail polish to the salon.... that way, you can use it for touch ups while your on your HM I used revlon with seche vite top coat.

I don't think it's nuts at all! I would do mine if I could make it look dramatic and not clown-like! I say do it if you are comfortable with your skills. Why don't you do a trial on yourself!! Post pics!

No, it's not nuts. You would have complete control over the way you look.
Are you considering this to save money? You would definitely save money compared to someone who would travel out to your site. However, it may not save much compared to a salon you travel to if you buy a lot of new makeup and tools.
Ditto the others on doing test runs in different lighting. Also, don't wear sunscreen or makeup with sunscreen in it or it will look shiny in pics.

Re: Doing your own makeup
If I knew how to do makeup than I definitely would have considered it. Unfortunately, I am not that great, so I figured I woudl pay a professional.
