Can anyone recommend any hotels on Caribbean side of the Dominican Republic? DH and I are looking for an inexpensive, quick vacation for our 1yr anniversary - Any other suggestions for destinations would be appreciated too. Thanks!
I have been to DR twice and stayed at the Iberostars. Iberostar is a good chain - I think. My DR friends always recommend the Bavaro Beach area (Punta Cana) of DR. I stayed at the Iberostar Bavaro and it was nice. The rooms were mini-suites and it's adults only I believe. If you stay there you can use the facilities of all three Iberostars - you can walk from one to another - with no problem.
Some woman at my work goes every year and she said the place she stayed this year was her favorite - I will try to find it out.

The woman at work said she stayed at Secrets Excellence or something like that in Punta Cana. She siad it had very nice rooms - jacuzzi in every room and it was really cheap - like under $900 for a week. She said it is an hour rive from the airport though and she didn't like that.

my boss is going next week to punta canta. they are going for ridicously cheap - i think $400 pp and they are staying 4 nights. it's an all-inclusive so meals are included.

I went to Punta Can last April with 2 other couples. We stayed at Melia Caribe. It is an all-inclusive and really BEAUTIFUL resort. You can get really cheap rates there. The only thing I didnt like is that there is NOT too much to do, but we had a GREAT time
