Do you own a home??

Becuase if yu are pkanning on using the donation as a tax right off, make sure you own a home, so that you will be iteizing in 2004.

I ahd a friend do this, and was upset that since she didn't itemize she didn't get a tax break.

We donated our car to Children's Education Network. I think the # is 1-800-45 Teach or
1-888-45 Teach.

We don't own a home but we do itemize and did this last year. I don't remember the organization though. We were able to deduct the book value of the car at the time.

My dad donated his car to the American Cancer Society. I can get information for you if you are interested in that particular organization. I will be speaking with him tonight and he could get me info.

My family had donated 3 cars to the Heritage for the Blind.
Ironic, but they are great to deal with.

I donated my old car to them too. The car was totaled, and they came and towed it away. They were wonderful to deal with, and said they fix up the old cars to help at all of the locations. It felt really good to give to them. I also did not own a home at the time, but itemized and got the writeoff for the blue book value.
