Donation Favor Wording

Donation Favor Wording

I want to do a breast cancer donation for a favor. And although our parents are paying for the wedding, FH & I will be the ones making the donation. After a very insensitive comment my FFIL made to me, I want to make absolutely certain that it is communicated that the donation came from me & FH, not anyone else. I don't want there to be any confusion. FFIL doesn't deserve for people to think he's compassionate because he is not.

So....any ideas on how to word my explaination?

We are doing a donation to breast cancer as well. We are putting 'Thank you for sharing our special day. A donation was made in your honor to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation' on the front of a square votive candle. HTH

this is what we wrote: (thanks to another LIW bride)

To Our Family and Friends

With much thought and consideration, we have chosen a special way to say 'Thank You' for sharing our Wedding Day with us.
In lieu of a traditional wedding favor we have made a donation in your honor to

‘Long Island Cares—The Harry Chapin Food Bank’

We feel the finest gift is one that helps others.

We truly appreciate your being part of our Special Day.

All Our Love,
Marnie & Evan

I love this idea and will probably do it myself.
Truthfully... who cares what your FFIL thinks. This donation is a selfless act of kindness and is helping out a very much needed cause. Does it really matter where it comes from? Besides, is everyone at the wedding going to know that your parents paid for the wedding and will therefore think they made the donation?... probably not. Good luck!!!!

Is this something you had in mind?

Breast Cancer has deeply affected the lives of so many of the people we love. The Bride and Groom have decided to proudly make a donation in the name of their wedding guests to the (Susan G. Komen? Sloan Kettering?) Breast Cancer Foundation in loving memory of the bride's mother, (your mom) who is in our hearts on this special day and forever.
