We want to give a donation to the American cancer society since this has touched both sides of the family. Do you just send a check and let people know...or is there supposed to be some way to dedicate? Did everyone just post something on the placecard table or something so everyone knew? TIA.

Re: Donation favors
We donated to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and they provided something to let the guests know. You could chose scrolls, giftcards, or table cards. We chose the table cards. This way everyone knew we had given a donation in lieu of favors.
we are going to do scrolls and place the scrolls on everyone's seat

Re: Donation favors
We did a donation to The Children's Hospital Boston, and they provided scrolls for us to put at each place setting.
There was contact information on their website if you wanted to make a donation in honor of an event, and I basically just called and they sent me a form. I'm assuming that the American Cancer Society has something similar.
Also, if you do it, make sure you check if the company/organization you or your FH work for matches charitable donations. My company did so we were able to double our donation...

Re: Donation favors
Some of the places will actually send you something. We are dontaing to the aspca. They actually sent me a sample, all I have to do is send them a check and the amount of cards we need.

Re: Donation favors
We're donating to the Make A Wish Foundation and they have these cute certificates they send. You can personalize them. We plan on printing them out for each place setting. We're going to make them into scrolls with some nice ribbon.

Re: Donation favors
When you donate to the American Cancer Society, they actually provide the scrolls for you. Here is what they look like and the website is www.cancer.org I believe they are $3 each
We're making a donation to the Anerican Cancer Society in memory of my 2 grandmothers and FH's godmother. I am making the scroll myself and attaching it to a small favor (we're not sure what yet, probably just a little box of m&m's or something)

Re: Donation favors
we donated to the lance armstrong cancer fund... we gave each guest one of the yellow ' livestrong' bracelets with a note attached to it explaining the donation.... it was great becasue guest got to take something home with them, and we didn't feel like the money was wasted on a favor they wouldn't use... we got lots of compliments on it, and still see a lot of our guests wearing the bracelets

Re: Donation favors
It depends on where you donate to-some provide you with something to gve your guests. If not I would make something up with whomever you donated to and why.

Re: Donation favors
Some do cards for each person with candy, a ribbon, a bracelet, etc...
Some do one 'poster' like announcement.
Some include it in their programs.
I don't think you can go wrong with any method.
That's a very sweet idea!
